Change (a Hayes Grier fanfiction)

Forty Three

As I became apprehensive of seeing the boys again, and running into a pothead who can't come up with a decent pick up line I went to the store.

We needed milk and eggs. I took my money out of my wallet and gave the cashier her the apt amount of money.

I took my bag, regretting getting the gallon milk, and penny boarded back to my house.

It took a while but I eventually got there.

I set the stuff down on the counter and my aunt thanked me, she was heading out to her office in the city to do some work, I've been to her office it's next door to the Chrysler Building, I know cool right. She's a stock broker, she gives, shares, and counts stocks. It's awesome.

I can technically go to the city whenever I want but I hate going alone and Rickey is always busy.

"CC come play with us!" My cousin exclaims from the playroom.

"Coming, let me put my bag down." I tell her, I set my bag onto my bed and go into the playroom which was next door. I go in and see the girls playing with dolls and such, I sit down and help the girl get their dolls to dresses.

After about fifteen minutes we went into the family room and watched TV. I cut some apples and watched Good Luck Charlie reruns.

I heard a knock at the door so I went to see who it was.

"Hey Rickey." I open the door.

"Hey."

"Fart face!" My cousin comes running in and gives Rickey a hug.

"Hey extra small." He gives her a hug back. We go into my room and the girls continue to watch their show.

"So what's up, why no notice?" I ask as I shut my door.

"I was already on a walk and decided to stop by."

"Ok."

"So have you decided on what's going to happen with Hayes."

"I don't know, I'm just going to treat him as a friend."

"CC we all know that's not going to happen." He says disagreeing with me.

"Yah, I know, it's so hard not to fall in love with him, then something always happens and I just want to run away from my problems, go somewhere safe."

"Are you happy without him?"

"Yes and no."

"Why?"

"Yes, because I have had so much less drama, and my life is so simple and I like it. No because I miss him, I miss his hugs and his kisses and everything. Maybe I do miss the drama because it gave me a little stress, which is good. Sometimes it became so much that I just had to walk away. I always end up running though, somewhere far far away."

"Like New York?"

"Yah."

"Do you want to get back together with him?"

"Even if I did he wouldn't take me back, not after this long."

"CC your his first love, and your an unforgettable girl. It's going to be so hard to not forget someone like you." He explains.

"Really?"

"Of course! If we were dating and you left me I would be devastated, I would move on, but if you ever came back I would go back to you in a heartbeat."

"Yah but your you, and Hayes is Hayes."

"You went goth, went back to normal, did drugs, and went back to normal. Did he love you throughout the whole time? Even when he cheated because he was being a stupid guy."

"Yes."

"Then why would he stop loving you now?"

"Rickey I haven't seen him in a month." I argue

"Neither have you, yet you still love him."

I waited for a minute, pondering what he just said. If Hayes does love me would he take me back?

"Rickey how are you so good at giving advice?"

"I have three sisters and a mother who has been married twice, I think I know something about relationships."

I laughed and we watched Netflix, made dinner, and goofed around until my Aunt got him at seven and Rickey went home.

I think that Hayes will take me back, the thing is do I even want to be taken back? We would have to do long distance. That is some hard shit. Maybe Hayes loves me but doesn't want to hurt me.

Why is this so confusing?
