Chapter 23 : Escape ?

"Just pretend that you are asleep. When he comes in, knock him down. "

I took Ray's words and lay down on the straws, holding onto the bat. I took a quick look at the alarm clock.

12.50. He will be coming in soon.

Hope that I can do it.

I turned my head to face the wall, so that David will not know whether I am asleep or not.

I just have to wait for 10 minutes. I just have to do something while waiting. I know! I will just have to think about my friend's name while waiting.

I started thinking, thinking very carefully. Very carefully........

" Crazy girl, Wake Up!" A familar voice shouted.

I woke up, holding onto something. Something invisible. Oh, I forgotten about the bat.

Wait, what is the time?

I got up, looking at the clock. 1.10. I missed the chance to escape. I turned around to look at Ray.

He was glaring at me. Oops.

" Why did you fall asleep? I was waiting for you to hit him!" Ray exclaimed, shaking his head with disappointment.

" Sorry. I was too tired to not fall asleep." I explained, yawning.

Ray stared at me with his serious expression. "Just make sure you do it right tonight." Ray told me, eating.

I sat down and started eating. Fried rice and water.

I gobbled everything up and moved back into the darkness.

No one talked. We waited for David to come collect our dishes.

" Give me your clock." Ray commanded, holding out his hand.

I took the alarm clock without asking why and threw it to him. " Why do you need it?"I questioned.

I wonder what will he do with it?

Ray looked at the clock. " So that even if you are not asleep, I can tell you when to wait for David's arrival." Ray explained.

" Okay........" I remarked, lying down again.

I am so tired. Guess I can sleep while thinking again.

I closed my eyes, thinking.

My friend.

She is important, important to this massive group.

What is this massive group?

Is it really important?

To the country?

Or is it just a massive group that is standing by the side of the kingdom?

" Crazy girl, Wake Up!" Ray yelled through his cell.

I sat straight up, rubbing my eyes.

" It is 7.27. He is coming down in three minutes. Get ready!" Ray reminded, moving back to his position.

I laid back down, holding the bat. This is it.........

I waited for David, not making any sound. He will be coming in soon......

" Creak!" The sound of my gate opening alerted me.

Time to do this.

I carefully stood up behind me, grabbing onto the bat tightly.
