Shinso's POV
I could see that something was wrong with Y/N. It was undeniable, at this point. Everything about her seemed to change around Christmas time. The way she walked, the way she talked, the way she held herself had all changed. I knew I couldn't just go up to her and ask her, or she'd run away.
I looked at her from across my class room. She was silent, more so now than ever before. I noticed Izuku quickly say something to her, but I couldn't hear what. She just shrugged off whatever he said, and continued focusing on her work. Izuku had a slightly confused look for only a second before it disappeared. I sighed, deciding to come up with a plan after class.Timeskip
It was a necessity that every student who lived in the dorms had to vacate them while in holiday break. As I walked by Y/N's on my way out, I noticed that she was only grabbing only a small backpack.
"You know we're leaving for two weeks, right?" I asked, trying not to be insensitive or something. She glanced up at me before returning to stuffing a small bag.
"This is all that I have. I gotta be light on my feet anyway."
"Do you plan to be attacked by a villain on your way home?" She scoffed at me, looking away and grinding her teeth.
"Shut up, Shinso." She spat. She put on her shoes, and pushed past me. I decided to walk behind her, regardless of wether she wanted me to or not.
I saw her reach the gates or UA and look left and right multiple times. She stared, deep in thought for a good while.
"What are you thinking about?" She looked startled by my voice, but recovered quickly.
"None of your business, purple."
"Ah, yes. Purple. I feel so inferior. What an insult that is." I smirked at her. She huffed and puffed.
"None of your business, ugly. How's that?" She sneered, and stuck her tongue out.
She decided to take a left. I followed behind her still.
"Are you sure you're heading to your house? Because left only goes to the business district of Musutafu. She growled in frustration.
"WHATEVER!" She screamed, turning around.
"Where do you live?" She shook her head. "What are your parents like?" She shook her head. "Do you have any siblings?" She stopped walking, and dropped her bag on the cement. Her hands fell in front of her face, covering it.
"Do you want to fucking fight?! Would you stop asking me about my home?!?" She jerked her head up to look up me, and when she did, I could see that there were tears in her eyes. She held them back, flexing her jaw. She wiped her eyes, and ran down the street, leaving her bag on the sidewalk.
"Wait, Y/N!" I called, dropping my bag to run, too. After a moment, I grabbed her by the waist, pulling her close to me, pressing her head to my chest. She struggled, trying to push me away, but I didn't let her. "It's ok, Y/N... you can tell me anything, you know." Her struggling got weaker and weaker until it stopped. I felt something wet on my shirt. I realized it was her tears. I rubbed her back, in small circles. "I'm sorry that I pried. I wont do it again." I mumbled into her ear.
"N-No... I-I-I'm sorry, S-Shinso..." She choked out, through her sobs. She stopped crying, and pushed me away slightly. "It's not your fault. I'm just defensive..." She looked up at me through teary eyes.
"Let's go get our stuff." I offered, placing my hand on her wet cheek. She nodded, breaking eye contact.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked, as we once again started walking towards the housing part of Musutafu. She shrugged.
"I don't really have a house... My dad is a villain who killed my mom when I was born as a girl... and my older brother is really rough with me, and tends to favor physical punishment over anything else. I love living in UA's dorms because, even though I'd have to explain everything, I'd have everyone around me to protect me. And even better, I didn't have to see my brother." I nodded, taking in every word. "And now... I can't go back there even if I wanted to. My brother kicked me out when I got into UA..." She swallowed back her tears, continuing to step forward. "I was just planning to lose you somewhere around the alley ways in the business district and catch a subway to Hosu. That's where I spent all of my time before we had dorms..."
"Even when the hero killer was there??"
"I'd slept in the alley that Midoriya and Iida told me they fought in. I never did mention that, though." I quickly took her free hand.
"Please, Y/N. Please spend your holiday at my house, with my family." She look surprised at my offer, but shook her head.
"I'm not going to intrude on your family time, Shinso. Everybody deserves it, even though I didn't happen to be blessed with it." She smiled, forcedly, painfully. I shook my head, concern in my eyes.
"I can't accept no as an answer, especially when I know you're just going to sleep in an alley was in Hosu. Hosu is a dangerous city!" She looked sad, extremely sad.
"I'm sorry, Shinso..." She started. I pressed my lips into a straight line, before slinging her small body over my shoulder.
"I told you I wasn't accepting no." I marched her down the streets towards my house.
"Shinso, let me down!" She cried out. Somebody glanced over at us, but they probably just assume we were a couple and looked the other way. I put her down on the doorstep of my house.
"Hi, mom. It's nice to see you again. I was wondering if we could let my friend Y/N stay here for winter break. She doesn't really have anywhere else to go."
