Nightmare's pov

IT'S YOUR FAULT WE FEEL THIS WAY!!

I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE LIKE YOU IS RELATED TO DREAM!!

YOU DISGUST ME.

SLAM

I shot up, sweating. I looked around. The sun was beginning to rise, and Dream was snoring. Thank goodness that horrible nightmare wasn't real... I take deep breaths, and eventually stop sweating. I climb to the top of the tree, and drift off again.

When I wake again, the sun is shining. I look down to the tree trunk, and Dream isn't there. He's probably with his friends. I guess I'll visit Linda today, because I don't feel like being alone, and I don't want to go near Dream's friends just yet. Who knows if they hate me too.

I climb down the tree, and begin walking to the Library. Thankfully, not many people are out today, so I don't get as many glares. Still though... it really bothers me. I find the library, and I walk in. I see her at the desk, reading another book. I approach her.

"Good morning Linda!"

She looks up, smiling warmly.

"Good AFTERNOON, Nightmare."

She smirks at me and my cheeks heat up in embarrassment. I really slept that long?

"Aw gee, did I really sleep in that late?"

I say as I scratch the back of my neck. She laughs and stands up.

"I was just about to get ready to go for lunch. Would you like to come with me?"

Uh... what's lunch?

"Sure, but... what's lunch?"

This time, her face didn't look shocked.

"Hmm... come with me, child."

She took my hand and lead me outside. Whenever I received a glare, she glared at the people right back and moved in front of me protectively, scaring the other people away.

I feel safe with her. She's like a mother to me... of course, I can't forget about my actual mother that's currently stuck in a tree.

I just noticed how tall she is compared to me. I only go up to the top of her thigh. I'm having a hard time keeping up with her long strides. My stubby legs can't carry me much further. To my relief, we have arrived to wherever she's taken me.

She walks up to a counter that I can't see over, and begins talking to someone.

"Good afternoon, Neil."

"O-oh-! Good afternoon Linda!"

I guess his name is Neil? I wish I could see him, but I'm too short! I stand on the tips of my toes. Still no luck. Darn.

"Would you like the usual?"

"Yes please. Oh, and I'll add one more thing to my order. Can I have a plain cheeseburger please?"

"Yeah, sure!"

"Thanks. Oh, after your shift is done, there's someone I want you to meet."

"Ooh, sounds interesting! I'll see you in a bit!"

And with that, Linda lead me over to an area with chairs and a...a... I have no clue what that thing is.

I struggled to get into the chair, but I eventually pulled myself up. Why are these chairs so big? The chairs in the library weren't this tall...
