3rd person pov

Everyone was eager to start the game except for Nightmare.

Our cute little skeleton knew that Aiden's friends were up to something.

However... Nightmare didn't want to believe that Lilith was in on it too. He was starting to feel something for her. Something that made him like her presence. It was similar to how he felt around Linda and Neil, but... more craving. Like he needed to hear her flames crackling.

Lilith was quiet like him. She also seemed badass, but sweet. A quality he liked.

Now, Nightmare's positive emotions aren't very strong. His negative emotions overpower his positive emotions. However, Lilith made his happiness seem stronger. He wasn't happy very often.

Unfortunately for our sweet little Nighty... Lilith has other plans. Something more... sinister. But for now... she wants to play her part. What does that mean? You'll see.

"I'll go first!"

Aiden said to everyone with a smile.

"Nightmare."

The negative skeleton stiffened.

"Truth or dare."

Nightmare wasn't sure how to play truth or dare, but knew from Aiden's words that he had to choose one or the other.

'Truth sounds safe...'

Nightmare thought.

"T-truth..."

Nightmare stuttered out nervously.

Aiden's smile faltered a little. However, he picked up his mask and smiled brighter.

"Hmm... is it true that because you exist, we feel things like sadness, hatred, anger, violence and others? Your existence makes us feel that way?"

Aiden said in a sickly sweet tone.

Dream was confused. Why would Aiden ask that if he knows that him and Nighty both existed to bring positive and negative emotions? That they exist for that purpose?

"...yes. My existence brings negativity. Because of me being here, you feel those things."

Nightmare said, trying to fake a smile for his innocent brother's sake. Dream looked at Nightmare.

'He's smiling... but his aura feels sad...? I'm probably overthinking this. It's because of Nighty's role as guardian of negativity that his emotions are being weird! He'll be okay! My brother is strong!'

Dream thought to himself with a confident smile.

"It's your turn Nightmare."

Aiden said; keeping up his facade.

"Okay. Umm... Lilith. Truth o-or dare...?"

Nightmare said; failing to look at her without a purple hue dusting his pure white cheeks.

"Hmmm... dare~"

Lilith purred with a smirk, causing Nightmare's cheeks to heat up further.

"U-ummm... I... I dare you to... uhhh... c-climb that tree! Y-you don't have to go all t-the way to the top though!"

Nightmare said in his silky, ghostly voice while pointing at a tall tree.

Lilith agreed with a fake smile. She knew how to completely ruin this dare. Aiden shot her a knowing smirk that went unnoticed by both of the guardians of positivity and negativity.

She began to climb the tree. She ascended further and further up the tree, until...

'Heh. Showtime~'

She thought as she pretended to miss her footing on a branch, lost her balance and fell; her shrill scream echoing throughout the forest.

Aiden leapt into action and caught her just in time. Almost as if he knew it would happen.

"OH MY GOODNESS! LILITH!!"

Dream yelled as he ran to her side. Everyone sprung up from the benches and rushed to her side except for Nightmare.

Nightmare noticed something. When Aiden's friends were asking Lilith if she was okay... it seemed... fake. As if it were an act... except Dream. He seemed oblivious to how fake it all looked.

Once Lilith stopped pretending to be in shock, everyone returned to their respective spot on the bench. Many hateful glares were sent at the poor negative skeleton. Even Dream looked disappointed, but not much.

'Brother would never hurt someone on purpose... right? No! Nighty isn't like that...!'

Dream reassured himself.

"Hey Nightmare, what was that dare all about huh? I don't think that was very nice."

Aiden said; venom only audible to Nightmare and Aiden's cruel friends.

Nightmare felt hurt. Why couldn't people just believe that he didn't want to hurt anyone? He's not the villain they make him out to be!

"Since Nightmare dared Lilith such a dangerous dare, I think it's only fair that she gets to do the same!"

Carson said; glaring at Nightmare.

"W-wait! Nightmare didn't mean it guys! T-two wrongs don't make a right... c-can't we just forgive him? Please? He didn't mean it...!"

Dream pleaded. Veronica gave him a sympathetic look. But it was fake.

"Dream, sweetie. It won't be a bad dare! Besides, it's only normal that someone who's done something that receives at least a SMALL punishment. It's just fair. So, Lilith will dare Nightmare to do something!"

Veronica gave Dream a sickly sweet smile. Like a sugary poison. Dream nodded, but still wasn't assured that it wasn't the right thing.

"Okay Nightmare... I dare you... to wander forward through the forest, until Carson comes and finds you!"

Lilith said with a giggle.

Nightmare stood up on shaky legs and began to walk away.

"And now we wait."

Aiden said with a menacing smirk.
