3rd person pov
The next three days went by fairly quickly. Linda, Neil and Dream spent majority of their time with Nightmare, but Neil and Linda had jobs to do, so Ashley took care of Dream and Nightmare while they were away.
When Neil and Linda returned, they took turns spending the night in the hospital with the two tiny guardians. Soon, Nightmare was released from the hospital then brought to Linda's library, and he was in good condition.
His arm was healed, and was now properly bendable. His legs were stiff, but that would be fixed. Lastly, Nightmare's eye was uncovered and he could barely see through it. He freaked out, and started to cry. Dream cried too, because he had no clue what was wrong. He thought Nightmare would get better, not worse!
So, Linda sat Nightmare down in a beanbag, and explained to him that he was now blind in his left eye. Nightmare still cried, so Dream, Linda and Neil hugged the crying bean.
Then, once Nightmare calmed down, Neil said he had to "go do something". Nightmare sat with Dream in the beanbag, and Linda sat in a chair in front of them. She read a book to them, and waited for Neil to return.
Once he did, he dropped a bag in front of the twins.
"Is it for us?"
Nightmare asked, his big eyelight flicking up at Neil.
"Yeah, you two go ahead and open it!"
Dream and Nightmare squealed, opening the bag and dumping out its contents. There were sticky notes on the items. Some sticky's were yellow, some were purple. Both twins knew which items were for who.
Dream first picked up a light blue narwhal plushie. He hugged it close, squealing and rubbing his face against it.
Nightmare picked up a bookmark that had a beautiful galaxy design on it. Nightmare was awestruck by the beauty of the bookmark. He set it aside, grabbing the last item.
Dream grabbed his last item, which was a yellow necklace that had a shiny, metallic sun attached to it. Dream wasn't sure of what it was, but was overjoyed anyway; eyelights becoming sparkly golden stars.
Nightmare's last item was an eyepatch; but it wasn't any ordinary eyepatch. On the purple eyepatch was a cluster of small, lavender star shaped flowers which had golden buds inside. There were dark purple leaving sprouting out from behind the flowers.
(This is kind of what it looke like!)
A big star formed in Nightmare's undamaged eyelight as he turned the eyepatch over, looking at the entire thing. He let out a little "Ohh..." as he examined it. He was awestruck over how beautiful it was, and he didn't even know what the thing was.
Both guardians adored their gifts, and even more so Neil and Linda.
Both of the guardians hugged the adults tightly; repeating "thank you" over and over again.
Dream and Nightmare then asked what to do with the gifts they were unsure of.
Neil helped Dream put the necklace on, and told him what it was. Linda put the eyepatch over Nightmare's blinded eyesocket, and told him it was so he wouldn't have to worry about feeling awkward with just using one eyelight. Both guardians were practicing radiating happiness; even Nightmare was feeling exceptionally happy.
Seeing the little guardians so excited over their gifts made the adults melt.
Later on, it was time to get Nightmare's legs unstiff. Linda helped Nightmare up, and slowly guided him around the bookshelf. His legs felt weak, and walking felt slightly weird, but he felt better. After 10 minutes of walking, he felt normal. So, everyone spent the rest of the day in the library.
Nightmare and Dream were ready to return to guarding the tree the next day.
