|13| I Just Need... Air

(A/N: The story has finally caught up with the one on Quotev)

(Asano's POV)

"She's hiding something Ren," I said in between clenched teeth. I didn't like the way she had acted. Since when did she leave me standing?

"She just told you what happened," Teppei said. "Why are you so suspicious?"

"Think about it... All of a sudden, the end class aren't looked down upon as much as they used to be. They seem much happier than last year. They have weird teachers, teachers who don't look like ones. My father keeps checking on the old campus, the end class has managed to beat the baseball team and (Y/N) has suddenly become incredibly good at martial arts to the point where she was able to beat me..."

"Well, if you put it that way..." Seo said.

"It does seem suspicious..." Koyama admitted.

"Are you sure or do you think he's just bitter because she beat him?" I heard Ren whisper.

"Tch, I'm not bitter," I growled.

I could perfectly use her little meet up with Akabane as leverage. That way she would tell me the secret behind the end class' sudden success. However, if I did that, she could suddenly come up with a plan to turn the tables upside down. Before, I wouldn't have thought it twice but since she now hung with Akabane, I no longer knew what she was capable of. It was probable that Akabane had corrupted her.

I wasn't that stupid. I knew I had to use my cards correctly and for the moment, I couldn't lose her trust... it was too valuable. I would have to come up with other solutions and I knew that when the time came, I would be ready.

"We'll wait for her at the bottom of the mountain," I ordered as we packed our things and made our way to our destination.

'I will find what the end class is hiding,' I promised myself. 'And once I do, everything will go back to normal.'

(Your POV)

You: Are you mad at me?

You read the message a few times before hitting send. You wanted to know if you had upset Karma by following Asano without complaining. You waited patiently for the reply.

1 minute went by...

2 minutes...

5 minutes...

'What am I even doing?' You shook your head. 'It's not like he will respond right away.'

You placed your phone on your bed and began doing homework and studying for finals. Even though you didn't want to go back to class A since being in the end class had no repercussions given the fact that you had managed out a way to ice skate, you knew you had to do well on finals. Your brother and father would be coming home and if by that time you hadn't returned to the main campus, you didn't want to imagine what your mother would do. Though, at least you were sure she wouldn't hit you like Takaoka did.

The evening flew by in a blink of an eye. Your best subject was science but you were failing at maths. At this rate, you would have to ask Asano to tutor you... You really disliked that idea. Asano had already admitted that he hadn't enjoyed your last study session and you didn't want to be a nuisance. After all, he was keeping to his word and not telling anyone about your secret.

You chewed on your pen as you absentmindedly began doing the math exercises. You were having quite a lot of trouble to say the least. The sudden vibration from your phone took you by surprise. You immediately jumped from your seat and grabbed it. You were never a phone addict, you only used it for calling and sending messages, but today you were on edge. You really wanted to know if you had hurt Karma in any way. Unlocking your phone at the speed of light, you quickly checked for the notifications but you were disappointed when you saw it was only Kaori.
