Chapter 10- Lost in Darkness

Nia flew around and around her friends, a trail of sparkles behind her. Soon Siluetta felt herself rise off the ground and, looking around her, she saw that her friends were all rising too. Soon they were well above the ground, hanging in the cool night air. Following Nia, they began to fly down the mountain, still upright, until finally they landed softly on the ground beneath the mountain.

"Yay!" cheered Daniel. "We did it! We escaped!" 

But Nia just threw a frightened look over her shoulder and began to fly as fast as she could away from the castle. Siluetta understood. They could not be safe when they were so near the castle. She quickly followed Nia, beckoning for her friends to follow, too. They ran through the night for hours and soon Siluetta's legs ached. She stopped and looked back, and saw that they had long ago lost sight of the castle.

"It's safe now," she said, and everyone stopped. 

"So," asked Edwin. "What do we do now?" 

"We find a way out of the Land of Darkness," said Siluetta, but even as she said this she knew it was easier said than done. 

"But how?" said Edwin. "We don't know a way out of the Land of Darkness."

"We don't either," said Rose. Everyone looked at Nia.

"Don't look at me," she said. "How should I know a way out? I didn't even know about the Land of Darkness before we came here. I thought there was just my world and your world."

The friends all looked at each other. "I guess we just go on then," said Edwin. 

And so they continued to trudge on through the barren plains of the Land of Darkness, none of them with any idea about where they were headed. It was mid morning when they began to see more mountains, and another castle perched among them.

Siluetta shuddered. Another castle. Danger. 

Just then, five monstrous birdlike creatures swooped down and grabbed Siluetta and her friends.

They were captured again.
