The summer holiday was ending in two weeks and your heart sank more and more with each passing day. The moment you went back to school was the moment you had to pretend that everything that had happened over Holiday, never existed. Perhaps the worst of it was that, the moment you returned, you had to pretend Cedric didn't exist. You had to pretend that you hated each other, seeing as he was a Hufflepuff and you were a Slytherin. You loved Hogwarts, that was a fact. It was your home. But, that didn't change the fact that stereotypes and prejudices ran deep throughout the halls of the magic castle. You sighed, remembering the rules. Slytherins were not supposed to associate themselves with members of other houses. Especially not Hufflepuffs. No exceptions. Slytherin Pride and whatever other bullshit came with it.

You pushed through the crowd, making your way in and out of the different shoppes. Diagon Alley was bustling with students, eager to buy their new supplies for the upcoming year. You were enjoying the solitude but you had to admit that it felt weird to be wandering through shuck a large crowd, all alone. You and Cedric had agreed that it was best if you split up in regards to this endeavour, as you couldn't risk being seen together by the wrong people. Especially if those people had connections to your Father. You sighed, thinking of all the lies that you were forced to tell, just to get way from him for a few months. But, it was worth it.

Weaving your way through a gaggle of middle-aged women, who were giddy with excitement, their cheeks covered heavily with a substantial amount of blush. When you were finally able to slip through the door of Flourish and Blotts, your mouth fell open. The book shoppe was filled to the brim with screaming women and in front of it all was none other than the infamous Gilderoy Lockhart. You scowled in disgust, your irritation increasing by the second.

You couldn't stand the thought of him. It was a well known fact that Slytherins were experts in profiling the human psyche and Gilderoy Lockhart was as revolting and fraudulent as they came. You shoved past the masses of people, trudging up the wooden stairs. Pulling your supply list from your back pocket, you scanned over its contents, rolling your eyes in annoyance. Practically the entirety of your necessary reading materials were made up of Lockhart's autobiographies.

When you reached the top of the staircase, you were met by two familiar faces. Matthew jumped up, crushing you in a tight embrace, making you laugh in surprise. You stroked his dark hair, hugging him back. He had gotten at least four inches taller and his voice had grown significantly deeper. Your baby brother was growing up faster than you had ever thought possible. "(Y/N)! I missed you so much! It's so good to see you! Holiday wasn't nearly as fun without you!" Matt exclaimed, enthusiastically, making you smirk.

"Somehow, I find that hard to believe but I'll take your word for it. Did you have fun with Draco?" You questioned, eyeing the platinum blonde, standing idly behind your brother. They were quite the pair, it was rare to see one without the other. The young boy nodded in a polite greeting. You smirked, classic Malfoy move. You looked back at your brother as he nodded, answering your previous question.

"Is it true that you're coming home for the last two weeks of Holiday?" Matt asked, hopefully as you bit your lip, nervously. You wished that it wasn't, as you preferred to spend the rest of the Holiday with Cedric, but you knew that it was for the best.

"Yes, Mum needs a bit of help looking after you and Draco," you replied. Matt nodded, sympathetically. Lucius Malfoy had requested that Draco stay with your family for the last few weeks before the term began as he and Narcissa has some business to attend to. Your Father had agreed, although you couldn't possibly begin to understand why, considering that he hated children. More specifically, his own. You assumed his motives were purely selfish as he had to protect his reputation. At least the next two weeks would be void of his abuse.
