"Are you ready yet?", he asked for the fourth time in the past thirty minutes.
"Coming, wait up.", I said applying the last layer of lipstick.
"I don't know what is taking you so long? Aren't you going to wear just a t-shirt and jean -", he stopped talking when I stepped out of my room.
I waited while he took his time checking me out.
I cleared my throat once he was done. He started coughing a little at that.
"You seem to have changed.", he said pointing at me.
"So do you.", I said pointing to his clothes. He was wearing a grey shirt and black slacks with suspenders on, which was a total contrast of his dressing sense.
"Oh shit. Give me a minute.", he said rushing inside his room, as if he just realized it.
I chuckled at that before looking over at myself in the full size mirror in the living room.
I was wearing the red dress my mom had given for New Year and the black stilettos he had gifted to me. I had my hair up in a bun with a few strands out at the sides. I wore red lipstick and black eyeliner matching the costume. If last year, someone had told me that I would do these things willingly in the future, I would have laughed on their face. But here I am today all dolled up just to impress certain someone.
"Let's go.", he said making me look at him.
He was now dressed in black tux with red bow tie. From where he got them? I have no clue.
It was his turn to clear his throat now.
"Yeah, let's go.", I said walking out with my mobile in the dress pocket with him following behind closely.
Once we came down, he cursed looking at something in front of him.
"What's wrong?", I asked coming from behind him.
"Everything's wrong. This is not the way I planned things.", he said running his hand through his hair.
"What's this doing here?", I asked on seeing a motorcycle parked in front of us.
"Well things weren't supposed to happen this way. You weren't supposed to be wearing that. We were supposed to be riding that instead of standing here.", he said spelling it out.
"Fine then, I will go change.", I said turning around.
"No, no. I didn't mean it like that. Don't change. It – it looks good. No, it looks great on you.", he said holding me back by my elbow.
"Now what are we waiting for then? Let's go.", I asked facing him.
"How do we go? I don't have a car with me. And neither can we go in this.", he said frustrated.
"How long is the college from here? Of course we are going to walk. Now come.", I said pulling him along.
Fifteen minutes later, we arrived at our destination. The college was pretty much crowded. The prom-alike was happening at the quadrangle which they had started arranging the previous day. Students from other colleges are allowed to come, as long as someone from our college is their escort.
"Please take your masks.", a guy in the entrance told.
The theme was masks, so of course we had to wear one. I selected a mask for myself and one for Liam before entering the building.
Music could be heard the moment we entered. The corners of the quadrangle were occupied with stalls while the center was cleared for dancing.
"Shall I bring you something to drink?", he asked after stepped into the quadrangle.
"I am not doing anything, so I will also come with you. Let's go.", I said looping my hand into his.
He looked down at our hands and up at me. Thinking that he didn't like I tried taking out my hand. But he tightened the hold and started walking to the stall.
I smiled slightly at that.
After taking a drink for each of us, we headed to the chairs arranged in the side. We sat there sipping on my drink while waiting for the perfect song to come up. At least that was what I was doing. I don't know about him.
"You know, we haven't taken a picture yet.", he said after placing the empty glasses on the nearby table.
"Oh yeah, let's take one now.", I said taking out my mobile.
"What are you doing?", he asked holding down my hand.
"Taking picture.", I said shrugging.
"I meant an actual picture.", he said.
"Where do we get one here? Maybe we can someone to take one for us.", I said looking around for the right person.
"Actually, I know the right person. There is a photographer out there taking pictures of the dates. He should be free now. Can we go to him?", he asked letting go of my hand.
"Cool then. Let's go. You could have told it before coming inside itself.", I said before getting up and waiting for him to lead the way.
Just as he had told, there was a photographer, a little away from the entrance and he was free too.
"Hello, can you take pictures of us?", I asked the man.
"Yeah, sure. Stand there.", he said pointing to the area in front of him.
After a couple dozens of pictures, we thanked the photographer and went back in.
"May I have this dance?", he asked holding out his hand.
"Yep. Let's hit the floor.", I said placing my hand in his.
We continued dancing for few more songs when I felt vibration in my ribcage. I stepped away from him letting him take out his mobile.
He seemed to have gotten some call as he excused himself telling he would be back in a few minutes.
I went back to the sides and sat on the chair when I got a call.
"You got to come back home right now."
