Carmen's POV

I rubbed my eyes and walked to the kitchen lazily, smiling to myself.

Esme was already in the kitchen, lost in her own thoughts.

"Morning."

"Oh, you're awake." She smiled at me, looking up from the sandwich she was making.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Esmeralda." I smirked and she blushed, not even trying to hide it.

"Well, thank you. Happy Valentine's Day to you too. What are you planning to do today?"

"I am going to take a nice long shower and probably ask Arlo to come over. Since you and lover boy have plans today, I am sure Arlo is jobless as well. So yeah, that's my plan as of now." I told her.

"Congratulations on being so productive. I'm proud of you." She stated sarcastically.

"Ah, thank you, my lady. Anything else?"

"Nothing for now, I'll come up with something very soon. Stay tuned."

"Aye, aye. Okay, then. You guys go have fun, yeah? And don't forget to use protection. I am not really looking forward to little Esme's and Dan's running around this soon."

That was enough to shut her up.

After a nice long shower, I slipped into my pyjamas and tank top before requesting for a video call to Arlo's number.

There he was, lying in his bed with extremely messy hair and a morning face, grinning like a ninny. Why did he have to look so good? It was so unfair. By the looks of it, I didn't think he was wearing a shirt as well. Oh, my.

"Hi." He spoke. Hi voice was so raw and sounded like he had just woken up.

"Hello, lazy ass. How long are you planning to stay in bed? Any plans of being productive?"

"I can be of use if you'd come to me, to my bed." He smirked.

Holy shit. Did he just say that?

"I know I got your tongue tied. Yes! See? I am productive." He laughed.

His laugh resonated and it was absolutely illegal for someone to look that hot. I was so shameless, sitting there and gawking at him.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Now tell me what plans you have today." I changed the topic.

"A friend of mine is coming to Toronto today and I am going to meet him. So I'll spend half my day there and in the evening I'm going to come back home and stick to my Xbox. Why are you asking, though?"

"I thought if you were free today, I'd ask you to come over but since your day is already scheduled, I guess I'm going to have to stick to binge watching some random show."

"Ayeeee, I'm sorry, man. I would've come over if I didn't have plans today."

"No problem at all. At least get out of bed and shower now."

"Oh you want to see me half naked that bad huh?" He smiled and I died.

"You wish. Now go." I chuckled.

"Ouch, I'm hurt. Okay, quick question."

"Shoot."

"You don't have plans with Flint today?"

It kinda caught me off guard, but I managed to look unaffected by it.

"Um, no. Not really."

Awkward. Awkward. Shit.

"What are going to binge watch?" He asked.

He must've noticed a change in my expression and he shifted the topic.

"Harry Potter!" I exclaimed.

"Really? Harry Potter?" He couldn't believe it.

"Why do you look like you don't believe it?"

"How many times are you going to watch the same thing again and again?" He slapped his forehead.

"Become a potterhead and tell that sentence again. Let's see." I challenged him.

It was a different feeling. Every time  I spoke to Arlo, I felt good. I felt like he talked to me because he wanted to, not because he was forced to or to just continue the conversation.

It was a nice feeling. It made me want to talk to him more. He knew what to ask when and how to shift topics when things got awkward. It was something that made me smile automatically.

It kind of felt weird not sharing things about me and Flint with him. I felt like pouring it out to him but something stopped me. I didn't know what it was, but something inside me kept me from sharing it with him.

So far, Esme and Cara knew.

And it had been a while since I had spoken to Arlo. I mean, things about me and Flint took my most of the space in my head and didn't give me a chance to think about anything else much.

It was quarter past six in the evening and I looked out of the window to see that the streets were lit and red balloons hung here and there, the sun almost setting, illuminating the sky in bluish pink shades.

The breeze was still chilly, considering it was mid-February and winter hadn't officially ended. It felt good to be spending time with myself on my birthday. We were in Australia for my eighteenth birthday, spending time with my brother and chilling at Hamelin Bay.

Before I got lost in my own memories, my phone buzzed.

Dan: Hey, can you come over? Its urgent.
