Carmen's POV
"What are you doing today evening?" Flint shouted through the phone.
Yes, he lived on the floor below us and he couldn't take his lazy ass off to come up to our apartment.
"Considering the fact that its a Saturday, I'm just going to lay in my bed and kill the time. Just like that." I answered.
"Would you come to ice skate with me?" He asked.
"Today evening?"
"Yes? Would you?"
"Where-"
"Nathan Philips Square." He replied when he cut me off.
Esme was hanging out with Dan, I had no clue where Arlo was.
Do I go? Do I decline?
What would happen if I went?
Is it a date? Because I for sure as hell am not ready for all that.
"Um, okay. I'm in." I replied, contemplating my thoughts, finally.
"Geee! I'll pick you up at six?" He sounded excited.
"Sure, I'll be ready." I smiled and cut the call, opening Esme's and I's chat box.
Me: Listen, I'm going to Nathan Philips Square today evening. W/ Flint.
I didn't have to wait for her reply at all. I instantly received a message from her.
Esme: Whoa! Awesome blossom! Is it a date tho? ;)
Me: Date? No. Juzzzzt hangin out.
Esme: That's what you think, sweetie, not him.
Me: What do you mean?
Esme: Have you seen the way he looks at you? He totally has the hots for you;)
Me: huh. huh. huh.
Esme: Just watch, girl.
Me: Yeah, okay. WOW.
Flint having hots for me? Like, really?
My phone popped up with Arlo's message.
Arlo: Have fun;) And don't forget to tell me how it goes :P
Me: wow, thanks. You want everything in detail? ;)
Arlo: Would you tell me if I said yes?
Me: Depends.
Arlo: On what?
Me: on what we do;)
He saw the message, but he didn't reply.
That kept me wondering.

"Have you got any idea how much fun this is?" Flint screamed on top of his lungs, skating with me, accelerating further.
"I know right!" I couldn't agree more.
Skating for another thirty minutes, we returned our skates and headed towards one of the food counters to fill out guts.
Having cheeseburgers and chocolate milkshakes in a somewhat awkward silence, we decided to sit down for a little while before we left.
He looked like he wanted to tell something but he was holding himself back.
"So.." I trailed off.
"How was it?" He continued.
"I loved it. Every bit of it. And you?"
"It was more than just that for me, honestly speaking." He said, looking away and smiled to himself.
"Um, I'm not catching up, Flint."
He didn't reply, keeping something to himself, which made me anxious by the minute.
"Hey, you might wanna tell me what that meant. Come on, say it?" I urged him to go ahead.
He turned to lock his eyes with mine. It was hard to not notice the way his eyes grew darker and his pupils dilating more and more. The chilly wind blew a little harder than usual, causing him to blink his eyes and his lips curving into a subtle smile.
"I don't know how you would receive this. Whatever I'm going to tell you, that is." He states.
"Come on, Flint. What is it?"
"How would you feel if I called this our first date?" He finally blurted out.
It knocked me off of my feet. Not literally, but yeah, you get it, right?
What was happening? Our first date? Does that mean that he liked me? He had feelings for me?
"W-what?" I stammered.
"Um, yeah. I've been meaning to tell you this but I couldn't put it into words. I've liked you since the day we met. I mean it." He confesses.
Is this some kind of movie?
"You liked me?" I asked, still not able to take the information in.
"Yes." He looked at me expectantly.
Here it goes, Flint, you're not going to like it at all, but I'm extremely sorry.
"Okay, so, listen to me and listen to me carefully before you take this a step ahead. You're a very nice and sweet person, no doubt, but you're a very good friend of mine. And its next to impossible for me to have that sort of feelings for you. And I know that its hard to hear a 'no' straight on the face but I'm very sorry, I can't get myself to have any sort of romantic relations with you. I don't want to hurt you, that's not my intention at all, please know that. I'll give you all the time you need to accept this fact, but please move on. I can promise you that I'll remain a very good friend to you. I can totally understand if you cut yourself from me after this. I'm so sorry for having said all these, but it was a wonderful first date, if you have it your way. Thank you so much. For everything. Really."
He had a smile on his face.
That killed me.
