A/N: Hey guys!
This is a flashback of what happened to Selene when she was a child. It's kind of a filler chapter but nonetheless a very important chapter to give you guys some insight of what she went through.
Listen to Shadow by Jimmy Levy while reading this chapter. It goes really well with this part and sets the tone.
Let me know if you guys enjoy it !

Everything changed.
My whole life changed when my parents died. I was 12 when they died and the twins were 15 at the time. I remember that week as if it had happened yesterday, I was worried that my parents would come back from their deployment to find the mess I had gotten myself into. I was the black sheep of my family, always getting into trouble at school and at home. I was a little troublemaker to say the least but it's because I missed my parents. I didn't understand why they had to leave for months at a time. My siblings and I would stay with my moms sister. She was cool and reminded me of my mother, but she wasn't my mother and I wanted my parents. That week I had gotten into the biggest fight of the school year. I caused it though which was what I was afraid of my parents finding out about. My dad always said, "As long as you don't start the fight then all is forgiven my love, you never want to start a fight that could have been avoided. Always fight to defend yourself not to cause damage kiddo..." his words echoing in my mind.
My siblings, the twins, they were stellar students. Never missed school and never got into fights. They were the perfect kids to my parents, they tried telling me to be more like them to make mom and dad proud but I never saw the point of doing so, they weren't here to see it, so why try? Nevertheless, I took some of their advice; I was pretty good at school. I always made sure my grades never looked terrible, but I couldn't say the same thing about my behavior. Anyways that week my aunt was on edge after receiving a phone call from someone. She was very strict about us coming from school to the house and no where afterwards, she even made time to drop us all off at school. That week was strange to say the least, but I bothered not to pay much attention to it. That Thursday afternoon my siblings and I found my aunt crying in the living room holding her phone to her chest, she looked terrible. When she saw us come in she couldn't fake it anymore, so she sat us all down trying to compose herself in order to tell us some news that would drastically affect us all.
She looked at the three of us with worry and sadness before she opened her mouth and said the words I never thought I'd hear. "Kids, I have very um... very... I have something really difficult to tell you guys concerning your parents..." she paused my older sister already on the brink of tears as if she knew what was coming next. "Your parents were supposed to come home last week... but their tour got delayed a bit due to certain circumstances..." She paused, "...but I just got a call from their commanding officer..."She cried pausing again. "Your parents have been declared dead... they're still looking for their bodies... but remain sure that they died on their way back home...it looks like they were driving during the storm that happened this Tuesday and lost control of the vehicle..." she cried trying to maintain her composure. "The local police department are now looking for their bodies down in Lake Tahoe" she said as she wept into a tissue she was clinging onto for dear life. "I am so so sorry kids... I really am..." she cried as she hugged us all.
The twins were already in tears while I was still registering everything my aunt had just said. I couldn't believe it, I wouldn't believe it. It couldn't be true. Everything she said was a lie!
