The bed I wake on is cold, and hard. My fingers scratch the surface, and find that it is metal. On top of me is a thin, white blanket. A shiver runs up my spine as I remember the day before... Or last i was conscious. The thick cuffs, freezing water. It seemed like weeks, months even. But honestly...it could have been 2 days. I didn't have a window, so I didn't know.

The room I'm in smells thickly of antiseptic. I sit up slightly to get a better view, and see needles, medical waste, tissues, and other indicators of a hospital room.

I look down as my blanket slips. I'm wearing a scratchy, green nighty that has no back.

Obviously, I didn't die.

The door opens, after a couple minutes and a man wearing a doctor uniform walks in. His hair is a typical color; blond. His blue eyes dart around the clip board, and paper he holds close to his chest. After a second or so he looks up and over to my table. Surprise is clearly show in the pools of blue.

"Patient War. You're awake." He says setting down the clip board. "I hope you've let your mind be set straight. We do ration the food here. We have no desire for cheaters. You are lucky. Next time, you should watch yourself a bit more." his once calm expression turns stoic. His eyes harden, and look like ice.

I nod carefully. Best play the quiet game around officials.

"Good. You will be dismissed after lunch. Get dressed with the cloths beside you. After lunch you will be going to a 'councilling session." He leaves as quickly as he enters, and I sit there alone again.
