It was September 20th. James told me about a party his family was throwing for his cousin's birthday, the following day. I told him about a party that was being thrown for Lynn the same day of his cousin's birthday. That same night, James called me.
James; hey honey, how are you?
Me; good baby, I'm at my aunt's gossiping.
James; (laughs) why doesn't that surprise me? Listen, I want to ask you something.
Me; *nervously thinking* mmm yeah what is it?
James; would you like to come to my cousin's birthday party tomorrow? My mom's family will be there.
Me; *thinking hard as hell* okay fine. I'll go.
James; just letting you know, my cousin is turning seven. It's not an adult party.
Me; I wish you would've told me earlier, I didn't really bring clothes to meet your family.
James; it's fine, just wear anything. I already told my mom she'll be meeting you tomorrow.
When the conversation ended, I rushed to tell aunt Eva.
Me; aunt Eva, guess what?
Aunt Eva; *scared* what happened?
Me; I'll be meeting James' family tomorrow.
Aunt Eva; *excited* you already know Melissa. Just be yourself. I'm positive that they will love you, I mean, who wouldn't?
Me; awwwww. Stop hyping me up aunt Eva. Should I go with my hair straight, curly or natural?
Aunt Eva; whichever. You're pretty regardless. Just don't go in pj's.
Me and Aunt Eva; *laughing*
It was the morning of September 21st. I was hardly talking to James through call or text. Apparently he was extremely busy getting the decorations, the cake, food and drinks for the party. Meanwhile, I was buying his cousin a gift for his birthday.
Around 3pm, James finally called.
James; hey, I'm almost ready to go pick you up. Are you ready?
Me; okay honey, and yes I am.
James arrived at aunt Eva's house around 3;30pm.
James; *kisses me* hey honey, who's here?
Me; go to the kitchen and you'll see.
James; *walks to the kitchen*
James; hey aunt Eva, hey Lynn, hey Mary, how are you guys?
Aunt Eva; oh, you're still alive?
Lynn; *laughs* seriously, you still exist?
Mother Mary; *instigating* ohhhhh!!!
James; I'm sorry, you know that I've been busy training.
Aunt Eva; I'm eliminating certain people from my life who I don't consider to be friends anymore and you are starting to be part of my list.
Lynn; *laughs* wait, training for what?
Mother Mary; wait Lynn, you don't know?
James; Lynn, I'm going to the marines.
Lynn; *in shock* get the fuck out of here!!!! Are you serious???
James; I'm serious.
Lynn; *joking but upset* my thing is, if you had those plans in your head, then why put in the work to be part of the family? Poor Melissa.
