Dawn arose through the Georgie mountains that surrounded the small town.
-"Are you awake?" I whispered to Zak, whos eyes were desperately trying to flicker open through the piercing sunlight that came through the drapes.
-"I don't want to be." Zak yawned as he adjusted the sheets over mine and his shoulders, keeping the warmth between our bodies united. I didn't want him to go back to war, but he was a soldier, fighting for the great country of America.
His damp skin from the sweat he shed last night glistened in the soft sunlight as his muscles were still tense and sore from his recent injury in battle. He was my hero along as many other's.
-"When are you returning to camp?" I whispered as I again dared to run my fingers through his black hair.
-"Soon. I don't want to be considered as a deserter." Zak replied as he sat himself up, rubbing his face harshly with his palms before standing to his feet to fetch his clothes that were scattered about the room.
-"I don't want you to go.." I admitted as I lay on my side, supporting all of my weight on my right elbow.
-"I know, sweetheart. Believe me, I don't want to go either, but I have duties." Zak frowned as he buckled his trousers and belt firmly around his waist.
I watched carefully as he slipped his undershirt over his head, tucking it into his pants before completing his uniform with his coat. He stood proud and handsome.
-"I'll be back for you," Zak said as he pulled my nude body into his clothed torso,
-"Just stay here in town and I'll retrieve you when we leave camp." He finished before pulling my face into his, placing a warm and passionate kiss on my kiss-stung lips from a long night of love-making.
-"Be safe!" I pleaded as I grabbed his coat collar, pulling him seductively towards my own torso, rewarding him with a goodbye kiss.
-"I love you so much, Elizabeth Reed." Zak breathed in between kisses as we both knew he had to be on his way. I stood on the balcony that overlooked the town's street, watching as Zak sadly mounted his horse and returned to the camp. I was worried sick already! Just the thought of Zak getting injured again made my heart shrivel like a raisin.
I sighed as I retrieved my garments from the floor and slipped them over my body. I worried even more knowing that Zak's semen was now inside of me, planting itself in my uterus, producing a small child. I couldn't bear a birth, but if I made the choice to conceive, I had to understand the consequences I suppose..
I made my legs carry me to the downstairs saloon, hoping I could mingle with some of the other ladies whos smile would easily light a room. As I walked down the saloon stairs, I noticed two large men in broad hats having many beers at the bar. This sight brought back horrible memories as Aaron was a large man who wore a broad hat. I furrowed my eyebrows as I ignored their presence. I was probably paranoid.
-"Whiskey, please." I said politely to the bartender who had a similar facial structure as John, a man whom I dearly missed and wondered if he were doing well back in Arizona.
-"Here you go, lovely. How do you like it here?" He smiled as he started a brief conversation.
-"I like it here! I enjoy the scenery!" I smiled back before gulping my shot of the powerful alcohol. I savored the flavor on my taste buds as I looked to see the two mysterious men in the corner of my eye, occasionally glancing my way.
