Nick held me in his arm, I held his bicep so I could stable myself and gather my breath. "Thank you so very much." I breathed. "You're welcome miss." Nick smiled. "Are you okay?" Zak asked, concerned, I nodded.
-"C'mon, let's get you upstairs." John interrupted as he draped his coat over my shoulders, giving them a light squeeze.
John glared at Zak and Aaron, "Get out of here. Don't show your faces around here again." he demanded as he pointed to the door with a daring glare on his face.
Zak nodded and adjusted his coat and hat, motioning for Nick and Aaron to follow him. Nick left from my side to follow his partner, while Aaron stayed stationary, "We're still not paying for that shit you call a drink, but she's paying." Aaron threatened as he pointed at me and then tipped his hat at John in a disrespectful way. I covered my mouth with my palm at Aaron's words, could he be serious?
John led me upstairs to the second floor of the saloon where my room was. "Thank you." I mumbled as he opened the door for me. "Anytime, did that man hurt you?" "Of course not! He saved my life! I couldn't breathe!" I said. "I'm just glad you're okay." John mumbled before shutting the door for my own privacy. I sighed out heavily as I carefully stripped my beautiful blue dress from my aching body, hoping that I could possibly sew it back together. I looked in my wardrobe to pick out another dress, this one was a light pink color with white lace that fluffed the bottom. It was beautiful as well. I smiled to myself as I slipped it over my body.
I felt un-ladylike that I didn't wear my corset, but I hope nobody would notice. The morning silence of the room was disturbed by the leather slaps of saddles and the quick pace of horse hooves, charging into a full gallop from a stationary position. The three horses' hooves shook the Earth with their power.
Later in the evening, the saloon was filled with men drinking away their sorrows and talking about how they were going to shoot the next man that stood in their way - the usual 'drunk cowboy' lines. The soiled doves were making their rounds as well, leaving me, Elizabeth Reed, the only waitress in the saloon. I would constantly get whistled at by cowboys in their drunken stupor, but that was something a lady like me had to get used to. My attention turned from friendly, too terrified in a matter of minutes.
Aaron had walked through the saloon doors alone. My eyes widened as a soiled dove made her way over to him, rubbing his torso free of trail dust. She grazed his cheek with her lips as he pushed her away forcefully. He leaned himself on his right elbow on the bar as his palm rested flat on the surface.
-"I told you to get out of here." John said as he walked over.
-"Shut up and pour me a damn whisky, I'll pay this time." Aaron yelled. John took no action as he quickly collected a shot glass and a bottle of the finest whiskey that he would only pour for special guests. Aaron gulped the shot of whiskey as if it was water as he kept asking for more. I couldn't move, my feet felt like they were glued to the floor. His terrifying sight made my skin tremble, replaying the last sentence he had ever said to me playing over and over in my mind. After he took his third shot, he slammed the glass on the bar, looking over at me with lust in his eyes and a devilish grin on his lips. He got up and placed his hat back on his head as he turned on his heel to walk out of the saloon, again trying to escape paying-free. "Aren't you going to pay for that?" I asked with fear coating my voice. He quickly turned around and stomped towards me, "What did you just say?" He breathed down on me. "I asked if you were going to pay.." I trembled as my head sunk into my shoulders.
Aaron's chest was now less than centimeters away from mine. A small tear escaped from my eye, "Please don't hurt me.."
Aaron smirked while holding a firm grip on my arm, making me squeal out of instinct and sudden reaction. John had seen what events were occurring, "Let her go and get out of here!" John demanded before stopping dead in his tracks as he was running towards me. "Don't say another word." Aaron dared as he pulled out his pistol. John's face turned to fear as the ladies in the saloon gasped and ran behind their cowboy or a random man to protect them. "Please don't hurt her." John pleaded.
