I awoke from a deep slumber with the feeling of a dark presence beside of me. I fluttered my eyes open to see a man who I'd hoped I'd never have to see again. I would have rather seen Aaron instead of this man, Sullivan Jones.I gasped and positioned myself closest to the wall while I was still laying on the bed.
-"Sullivan? W-what do you want?" I choked out.
-"Saw two men riding into town like they owned the place - with one of them holding you. What's the deal with that?"
-"I don't know! Last I remember, Aaron took my innocence." I whispered, bowing my head.
The look on Sullivan's face said it all - anger and revenge. What was this man planning to do? He had a big reputation with me. For the longest time the townsfolk had not a clue of what went on between us. We had a relationship, we were actually planning to get married and take a train to Washington D.C, but those plans were quickly declined after he had held me hostage in the pit of his basement after he accused me of behaving like a prostitute at a saloon bar.
He was notorious with women, but the women that he would have under his wing were never seen again. I was named the lucky one.
-"Aaron is a lucky man." Sullivan spat.
-"You're such a disgrace, Sullivan. You will rot in the caves of Hell." I spat in reply.
Sullivan's face deepened at my response, "Well, I'm not in Hell yet." Sullivan replied as he jerked me by my arm.
The top of my feet scraped against the wooden floor as the sunlight stripped my face from its brightness. To my relief, I saw Nick sitting calmly on his horse.
-"Nick!" I screamed as I got his attention.
-"Don't you dare tell not a soul!" Sullivan threatened as he aimed his gun at Nick, as he backed away. Warm tears streamed my face as Sullivan drug me to his gigantic steed. The solid black Fresian stood tall and masculine, a horse that would be perfect for a hero, not a piece of trash like Sullivan. He slung me over the horse's hindquarters as he quickly slung himself over. As Sullivan galloped his horse out of town, I looked back to see Nick racing his horse to the saloon and quickly dismounting.
oOo
-"Zak!" Nick exclaimed as he scrambled through the saloon doors.
Zak stood firmly on his feet, his arms by his sides and his pistol clenched in his right hand. Nick then saw Aaron laying lifeless on the floor. He was pale. He could clearly see that he was struggling for breath in his final moments.
Nick felt sympathy for Aaron, but it was Aaron's mistake to take a woman's innocence. At this point in time, things like that will get you killed in a matter of minutes, there was no investigation, just justice. Nick placed his hand on Zak's left shoulder,
-"Zak, Elizabeth was kidnapped." Nick whispered.
Zak then turned on his heel to face Nick, "What? Why did you let that happen?!" Zak exclaimed as he grabbed Nick by his coat.
-"My life was at stake as well!" Nick argued.
-"What do you mean?!" Zak questioned.
-"He aimed the gun at me!" Nick pleaded.
Zak exhaled heavily as he made his way to the saloon doors, only to be stopped by Nick, "Let's wait till' dusk. We'll find her."
