My Little Secret

Chapter 2

Sometimes I feel like the universe is against me because every time I try and avoid him that's when everyone wants to mention him. Now I don't want to leave the house cause I fear I could see him maybe with someone else and I honestly don't even know what I'd do if I saw that. He left me 5 years ago right before I was about to tell him I was pregnant. He told me that after he left he'll come back for me and because I'm so naive I believed him. But the only person I'm truly worried about is Philip am I really ready for him to see his dad is he ready to see his dad.

"Eliza are you okay you've gone quiet" Theodosia asked
"Oh Theo don't mind me honestly I'm just tired," I said
"Yeah it was lovely meeting all of you but we've got to go now," Burr said and they got their daughter and left

"Eliza are you okay you look pale," Angie asked walking up to me

I feel dizzy it feels like the world is dancing around me and everything just doesn't look right.            Every sound seems to fade.
Then all of a sudden everything just went dark.

I wake up on my bed which everyone was surrounded.

"Hey guys I'm okay now you can go," I said
"Okay Liza but be careful," John said and I smiled at him
"Bye all of you guys we love you" Hercules shouted
"Philip my man come give uncle Herc a hug before we go" then Philip ran over and gave him a hug which was the most adorable thing ever.

Angelica and Peggy just sat and stared at me I knew they wanted to mention him but they're scared I'll pass out again.

"Just say what you have to say please I don't like the silence," I said which startles both of them
"If Alexander really is here will you let him know that Philips his son," Peggy asked
"I mean he deserves to know and it's not like he ran out on me cause he found out I was pregnant cause he didn't even know" I replied
"Eliza just know that we love you and if Alexander doesn't come back you need to know that he ain't shit," Angelica said
"Yeah I know thank you two I love you so much" I smile

I wake up quite early today cause I have to go to court as one of my friends from work husband has been abusing her and she needed someone to accompany her so I promised her I'll be there. I go take a shower and get dressed in some nice clothes cause I need to look presentable and then I go get Philip some food to eat then take him to school.

"Hey are you at the courthouse," I ask
"Yeah I'm with my lawyers friend right now just come in you'll see us" Maria replied
"Okay I'll be there in 5"

I walked and I saw Maria with Burr

"Hi Burr," I said
"Hey Eliza" he replied
"Do you two know each other" Maria asked
"Oh yeah our children are friends and we were friends in high school" I replied
"How come you didn't tell me yesterday that you were coming here"
"I completely forgot about it because of Pips birthday"
"Okay let's go in now"
My family lawyer Jefferson goes to her and tries to convince that everything's going to go well and I really hope that is true.

As I walked in and look over to Maria's abuser and right next to him I saw him next to Burr. The man I had sworn was the one who had taught me how to love. The dad of my beautiful son. At that moment I felt like running to him and asking him why he did this why he left me but what's the point when I know the reasons.  I then remembered I didn't come here for myself I came here, for my friend so she could finally get rid of her abuser.

Throughout the trial, I hadn't really been focused but from what I'm feeling we are winning the case. Eventually, Alexander comes to defend the Dickhead James Reynolds. One thing I will never understand about lawyers is why would they defend a guilty person James Reynolds is barely even denying it. Honestly, I've been watching too much how to get away with Murder and now I'm going crazy. Honestly, I'm so happy that Thomas Jefferson is my family's lawyer he is winning the case for Maria.

After a while, the judge had made a verdict and we are all now waiting to see what happens to Mr Reynolds.

"After bearing points from both Jefferson and Hamilton, I have come to the conclusion that the defendant is Guilty"

"He is going to spend 30 years in prison as he is charged with rape and domestic violence"

That's all I needed to hear he can now go down for all of the things he did to Maria and also his child. How could anyone be so cruel I honestly don't understand how?

I go over to Maria and give her a massive hug whilst she cried on my shoulder.

"He's gone forever Maria he'll never hurt you or your daughter again and also don't worry about paying your lawyer I have got that sorted," I say

"Thank you, Eliza" which is all she can really say as she is still so emotional from the events.

All of a sudden I see Hamilton walking up towards where I stood and I couldn't help but feel excited.

"Betsey it's been such a long time since I've seen you how have you being doing," He asked
"I've been doing fine so you finally became a lawyer didn't you," I said
"Yes I didn't win my case but it was cause I was distracted when I noticed you in the courtroom" he grinned
That goddamn smile it's so gorgeous
"I've got to go Betsey but maybe we can catch up later over some drinks" he suggests
"Yeah, I'd love that"
"How about tomorrow it's the weekend so I'll be free" he proposed
"Yeah sure"
"I'll pick you up at nine then" he smiled again
"Sure I'll text you the address," I said
"No need I still remember where we used to live," Alexander confessed
I did exactly the opposite of what I actually expected to do and why did I do that, it's because of a stupid thing called love.
