16 miles from any territory border: North West Canyons: Cliff Top: Early Spring
Vibrant reds and oranges covered the sky as the sun started to set over the canyons. The Earth Guardian stood on the Cliff Top, wings folded by his sides. He was waiting for someone. And as the sun set behind the horizon, the white, winged wolf made his appearance.
"Zemlja, you called for me?" Matla asked as he landed beside the winged bull elk.
"Yes, there is something I believe I should tell you," Zemlja answered as Matla sat beside him.
"I'm listening."
"I do not believe the war we ended is the battle we were to awake from stone."
Matla shook his head, "I think you have your antlers stuck in a tree again. The Rogue Wolves were causing some serious problems."
"And I believe they could have ended without us eventually."
"What are you saying Brother?" Matla asked, "there was no greater evil than the Rogues. Unless.." The Energy Guardian widened his bright blue eyes. "But there's no way. We made sure her gem would never be found."
"Evil always seems to find its way back to life," Zemlja said.
"Then let's hope Star Spirits still exist," Matla said, "or none of us will survive."
Lands Unknown
Night had fallen over a bleak and grey landscape. Scavengers fought over whatever scrap of food they could get. But when a grey she-wolf with rustic brown markings walked by, all creatures from a rodent to a bear dived for cover.
"It is so good to be home," Iowa said, stretching her front legs as she neared two wolves, who immediately shrunk back. Iowa chuckled bitterly as she walked past. "Oh don't tell me you're afraid of a blind wolf."
The two wolves knew better than to answer that and the moment she walked past, they took off. Better safe with some distance than dead.
Iowa walked over the rocks as she approached a cave, the cloudy colour from her eyes disappeared and were replaced by one yellow eye and one dark blue eye.
"Get out!" A voice growled and a young wolf came racing out of the cave, ears flat and tail tucked.
Iowa chuckled with amusement as she walked to the cave. "Having fun terrifying the underlings Shadow?"
A pitch black wolf stood in the centre of the cave, his back to the she-wolf. "Ah, Iowa. And how did it go my dear evil Star Spirit?"
"Your plans are in motion," Iowa smirked.
The black wolf turned around, revealing blood red eyes and a blood red gem around his neck. "Excellent."
