-The Two Most Powerful Warriors Are Patience And Time-

Pat pat pat.

Went the rainwater against the already damp leaves.

Spat...splat...spat...

Went the feet on the mucky trail.

SPLOOSH-creenk SPLOOSH creenk.

Went the three walkers accompanying them on their rough trek to the rendezvous point.

Rex never questioned orders.

He is a good soldier.

Or.. he was.

But that was before the General. he reminded himself, the General said he was human, which meant he should think for himself. Though he should respect his General's orders, he was only a captain, after all.

But he still is a good soldier.

He launched himself over a fallen log, Rex placed a foot on the slick muddy ground, quite a mistake actually, he slipped on the wet earth, bracing for a fall, when a strong hand caught his arm.

He looked over at the armour-clad soldier, like him, but armed to the teeth with weapons.

ARC trooper Fives was his name, and a trustworthy friend, despite his flaws.

His helmet gleamed from the rain, thunder clapped nearby.

"Easy," Fives chuckled. He was a light-hearted fellow unless he was sitting around too long, then he became a fearsome hot-head, if you did something wrong, no matter your rank, he would tell you, "Don't want our beloved Captain to fall in the mud." He teased.

"Ah," Rex grumbled, shaking loose Fives' grip, "better than lookin like a shiny."

"Yea," even though Fives had his helmet on, Rex knew he had played his familiar eye-roll, "You always took pride in making sure your armour was in the worst possible condition."

Rex merely shrugged, he started jogging again, to keep up with the moving battalion, Fives paced himself beside him.

They didn't speak.

Correction.

He didn't speak, Fives kept up enough conversation for the two of them.

"Siiiiiiiiigh" Moaned Rex.

"Whaaaaaaat?" Fives jokes.

"I'm leaving, bye, there's only some much I can take of you, I'm going to check up front, see how the Jedi are doing."

"Can I come?"

"NO." Rex warned, "Don't wantcha talkin their heads off."

As he ran to the front he heard the fading laughter from Fives.

On a normal weathered planet, he wouldn't be tired, all he had done was run ahead! But as of now he was drenched in sweat, and breathing heavily, when he reached the General he saw that they had been treated the same in this muggy wet world.

The General's long brown hair was slicked back by rain and sweat, the Commander stood beside him, a small scowl on her face, probably a mixture from the bad luck of the weather and her Master, Rex knew from experience that they fought a lot.

"General, Commander," He nodded to each in turn, "We are making good time, we should make it to the rendezvous point, I suggest we take a short break before we head on, I-."

"A break?" Ahsoka interrupted. "Wa- we're almost there! Why slow down anymore?"

"Patience young padawan." Anakin scolded, "Captain Rex is right, if we are to ambush them while the troops were weak from all this running we surely would've lost! Listen to Rex, he knows what he's doing," Ahsoka scowled again, but the General continued, "Captain send a message to the back, ten minutes, then we move out again."

"Yes sir."

Rex turned around and jogged towards the back, about a quarter-way there he stopped and called a trooper to deliver the message to the back.

"Yes sir!" The tense clone yelled.

"Shhhhh!" Rex silenced. "Do you want all the Separatists in the system to know we're here?!"

"S-sorry sir." The trooper whispered.

Rex looked him up and down, he'd seen this trooper before, he came from the new batch of Shinies, "What's your name trooper?"

"CT- 5890 sir."

"No," Rex said, "Your real name."

Even though 'CT-5890' had his helmet on, Rex could see the wave of confusion, "Sir I don't have a name yet."

Rex smiled under his helmet, he remembered himself saying the same thing...long ago...

"Well then." Rex said in amusement, "We'll just have to find you a name, soon. But now go follow your order."

"Yes sir."

Rex watched the soldier run, he heard a familiar whirring sound.

A Bomb.

His bark of warning was drowned out as it exploded.
