"Not it," I said quickly.
"Not it....dammit" Sean cursed getting up from the couch. He left the room towards the front door.
I turned back to the TV that had Disney Channel on it. Amelia was sitting on the floor holding her bowl of popcorn staring at it.
"What's happening Lia?" I asked her already knowing the answer.
"Elsa's making an ice castle," she responded, eyes fixed on the movie.
"Why?"
"She's angry and she wearing a pretty dress," she said pointing at it.
"Do those two factors correspond or..." I began but then the song 'Let it Go' blared through the room and Amelia started singing to it.
Doug's head jumped up in surprise at the sudden noise. Doug was my older sister Maya's German shepherd. Because they didn't let pets in her dorms he got to stay here with us.
She got him years ago and he was basically a family dog.Amelia screeched a high note and my ears could have fallen off then and there.
"Hello, ladies! You're new" I heard Sean say at the door. I checked my phone beside me and realised the time.
"I'm Haley"
I got up immediately and started towards the front door, Amelia's singing becoming distant.
Sean was leaning against the door in his best attempt to look cool. "Well hello, Haley. So Rae, you still with Austin?"
I heard a long exasperated sigh. "Keep it in your pants, Collins"
"What about you? You single?"
"Aren't we a little old for you?" Haley's voice said laced with amusement.
"Age is just a number baby" Sean smirked.
"And Jail is just a room" Rae joked and Haley laughed. I grabbed the top of his head and pulled him back before he could embarrass me even more.
"Ow!" He exclaimed behind me. I appeared in his place at the door and saw Rae and Haley standing at the door smiling.
"Ignore him" I chuckled scratching the back of my head.
"We planned to" Rae replied.
"Welcome to mi casa," I said extending the door and gesturing for them to come in. "Watch the movie with Lia" I directed at Sean.
"But..." he began as he looked between me and the girls.
"Go" I stared more firmly and he stomped off into the other room.
"I'm guessing that's your brother" My head turned to Haley and I nodded.
"The most annoying person you will ever meet," I said.
"Apart from you" Rae joked. "So are we going?"
"Yeah, you can go in" I pointed to the double glass doors that led into the garden.
"Let's get painting!" She exclaimed running in that direction like a toddler.
"Your house is so cool" Haley mentioned as she nudged me looking at the walks and ceilings of the front hall.
Our house wasn't huge, it was messy. Amelias' artistic drawings were covering half of the white office walls, Sean's laundry was in a pile at the top of the stairs, uncountable family photos held in different coloured frames were placed in every free space there was and Mom's empty product bottles were in shipping boxes that were discarded and pushed against the kitchen walls.
