"You don't have to do this" Luke cautioned for the hundredth time.

Blah Blah Blah.

"Haley?" he asked when I didn't respond.

"Collins? What's with the safety lesson? You're killing my vibe!" I bellowed, arms spread out wide staring at the pool below me.

"Your vibe" he laughed "...is jumping headfirst into the pool?"

I giggled at how ridiculous that sounded but agreed anyway. "Exactly! Now, I'm going to jump" I exclaimed putting my feet at the edge of Bryce's diving board. My feet crawled over the sides clinging to the end and I stared in front of me.

"No, you're not" Luke laughed at me as he sat in on the grass, sipping his drink while watching me.

"Yes, I am!" I was a tiny bit drunk.

It was now fully dark outside, if I moved my head inches upwards I could easily see the stars. Bryce's garden was lit by his outdoor square lights sitting on his backyard wall.
Luke and I had been hanging out for the whole party nearly, I think. I lost track of time.

Everyone had abandoned the backyard, it was deserted. We were the only ones here.
All the other people were inside, either insanely wasted or looking after someone insanely wasted. Or having sex in one of Bryce's guest bedrooms.

That's where I guessed Rae and Austin were.

"Haley" He called after moments of silence still amused by my current state.

"Luke! I was just about to jump!" I shouted at him and he laughed again tilting his head back.

"I'll count you down. Three...two...." he began.

"That's just more pressure!" I tried thinking of other excuses not to jump into the water.

"Do you need a push?" He smirked. He was mocking me of course, making fun of me. Two can play at the game Collins.

"I'll give you a push" I muttered pretending to be annoyed at him. I looked down at the empty red solo cups floating in the water following the ripples. There was also a shoe, a football and a thong.

Lovely.

"Is someone scared?" He teased.

"Shut up" I mumbled giving up. I wobbled as I drunkenly stepped down from the diving board.

Luke pretended to cough as he said "Chicken"

"Douche" I snapped back as I walked over to him carrying my shoes.

He smirked devilishly again. "Wuss"

I sighed as I sat down beside him. He leaned back on his elbows casually and I joined him, lying on my back.

"Jerk" I giggled. The grass was surprisingly soft and the air was slightly warm. I had no idea what time it was or how many drinks I'd had. But being with Luke was fun.
