"As you all know we have a test today on Spanish verbs. I gave you all a list to learn last week..." Ms Santos announced at the top of the class holding a pile of papers.
"What ending do you put on that one?" Abigail whispered frantically pointing the verb on the piece of paper in front of us.
"I thought you were looking up what it meant" I whispered back a bit too loudly, earning a glance from the two people sitting in front of us.
"We are gonna fail" Abigail muttered while turning off google translate on her phone she has hidden in her lap.
I sighed looking up at our teacher who was still droning on.
"Psst!" I heard from beside me. Morgan O'Connell was whispering to me. I've never spoken to her before.
"Hey Mo, do you know what this means?" Abigail asked pointing at the list.
"No idea" she answered then turned me. "Haley, are you friends with Luke Collins?"
"Yeah" I answered.
"Is he okay? Some of the guys were saying he's in hospital" she whispered.
I laughed slightly. "He's not in the hospital"
"Is his face all messed up?" Morgan asked.
I shook my head. "No"
"Teeth knocked out?"
"Nope" I replied.
"Broken arm?" She asked again.
I shook my head wondering why she was asking this stuff.
"Well then Nathan and Karla are both liars" she huffed staring back at the top of the class.
The game on Friday was pretty intense. Luke scored an amazing goal at the last minute only to be punched to the ground by Andrew. Mr Higgins was furious and Rae heard Andrew was banned from playing the next four Coast Academy games.
Lukes face wasn't that bad but he mentioned to Austin in the car on the way home that it was more embarrassment than anything else.
"He came from behind you" Rae pointed out.
"Its still humiliating" Luke responded staring out of the window.
"Don't worry we know you can take him Lukey" Austin joked ruffling his hair and Luke shoved his hand away. He texted me all weekend talking about how his Mom was scolding him and also kept trying to put him on bed rest.
I didn't mention my run into Andrew to anyone after the game. I sensed everyone in the car was just relieved they didn't have to see him again for a long time. I wondered during the game how Andrew knew who I was and why he was so interested in Lukes dating life.
Naturally anyone not at the game practically thought he died. Rumours were spreading all weekend rapidly.
"Do you like him?" Abigail mumbled in my ear and I jumped.
