"So what's this question about?" I tested Luke pointing at the words in the textbook.

He shrugged. "War"

"More specific?"

"The Vietnam War" Luke nodded, clearly proud of himself.

"Well done" I teased sarcastically. "We've been studying this book since the start of the semester. Have you even been reading it?"

I sat higher up on the bed staring at the boy beside me.

"Do I look like I read? I've been distracted" He mumbled staring around the room.

"With what?" I asked.

"Oh you know soccer practice, college applications, getting beaten up, spring break" he responded.

"You're such a drama queen"

Luke side-eyed me. "No, I'm not"

"Your massive ego and habit of complaining about everything in your life says differently. Last week you had a tantrum about banana yoghurt" I pointed out narrowing my eyes at him.

"Lunch lady gave me the wrong..." he muttered.

"Luke focus!" I laughed lifting the book to his face and dropping it in his lap.

He groaned grabbing my stuffed animal and burying his face in it. I reached across snatching it off him and he shot me a look.

"Leave Ellie alone" I challenged and his eyebrows raised.

"Ellie...the stuffed elephant? Original aren't we?"

I placed her on the ground. "For five years old, it was extremely original. Now start reading Collins!"

He huffed flicking through the English book. It was a couple of hours before the party started and I was supposed to be helping Luke study for English. His grades were shockingly low.

Luke and I haven't been alone since our date. We texted almost every night and planned to have a third one but whenever we talked to each other Rae or Austin were normally there.

I nearly melted into a puddle sitting in Austin's truck with him. I couldn't believe the amount of effort he put into the date. The lighting from the screen hit his face perfectly as we watched The Lion King and I couldn't help but stare at him. His striking blue eyes shone as he stared at the big screen and I could feel his body warmth as my shoulder touched his.

He noticed my hoodie. It was a silly and stupid thing but I liked the way he noticed small things.
An unpleasant look appears on my mom's face every time she sees me wearing it.

Every few moments during the movie, Luke would reach his hand over to my lap to grab a skittle from the bag and I'd always smiled slapping his hand away but giving in once or twice.

And when he kissed me my knees went weak. I felt a sudden lust for him as we stood outside my door in the night. His arms reached down holding my waist and mine wrapped around his neck.
