I left the manor this morning without another word to Drogo. After what happened during breakfast, I'm utterly convinced that something mysterious connects me to Nicolae. At college, I had classes all day without a moment of respite. Which is a good thing because it saved me from thinking too much. No time to go to the cafeteria, I just ate a sandwich on the run. But now, here I am back at the manor house, and I fear the worst. The Bartholys are hiding something from me. Otherwise, Nicolae would never have left so brutally like that. Even if he intimidates me, and I don't really know what to think of him, I have to talk to him to clear things up. My dreams have a direct link to them. They're not normal dreams, far from it.

Once in my room, I take my day's notes out and sit at my desk. I read my lessons over. The subjects today were rather complex but revising them helps me take my mind off the rest. It's not easy to stay focused with everything's that's happening to me. Still, I have to get down to work. My English course has priority because the syllabus is quite busy. I may quickly find myself overwhelmed. I'm struggling in analysing an extract of modern literature. When I hear a knock on my door.

Nicolae > Lana? Can I come in? I'd like to talk to you.

I recognize Nicolae's voice. Immediately, my heart leaps in my chest and I drop my pen. I invite him to come in. He looks much more serene than he did this morning, which reassures me a little.

Nicolae > I hope I'm not disturbing you, I noticed you came home late today.

> No worries. I had a busy day, lesson wise, but other than that, things are going fine.

Nicolae stares at the sheets of paper spread over my bed.

Nicolae > Were you working? I should come back later.

> Whatever. What do you need?

Nicolae > It won't take long. I just wanted to explain my reaction this morning concerning your dream.

I knew that he wouldn't leave things there. It was pretty predictable. I remain silent, waiting for him to continue. He stares at me for a long time, as if searching for his words. I watch his lips tighten and loosen, betraying his nervousness.

Nicolae > As crazy as it sounds, I think I know what your dream was about.

His words chill my soul. What does he mean?

> What it was about? But... how?

Nicolae > Somehow...

He's far too vague for my liking! If I'm not to panic, he should be clearer! I remain dumbstruck, incredulous.

Nicolae > The things you said, the forest, the tomb, the... wolf... it all reminded me of one of my ancestors.

> One of your ancestors? Sorry, but isn't that a bit far-fetched?!

I let out a nervous laugh. I never believed in ghosts or spirits. I'm not going to start now.

Nicolae > I know it'll probably seem strange to you. But you look a lot like the girl he loved.

Ok... I've wound up in a madhouse! There's no other explanation.

> Is this some kind of a joke? An initiation test for the newcomer? Like a hell week thing?

Nicolae > No, it's not. Please don't see any bad intentions. But such a likeness... id deeply disturbing.

Strangely, I have no trouble believing it. He doesn't seem to be playing with me. On the contrary, he looks worried. I feel attracted to him, like a magnet. I can't explain this need to be close to him. My dreams disturbed him, it's obvious. But he also disturbs me. For some reason, I really like him. There's something about Nicolae that pushes me to confide in him. His eyes are deep, unfathomable.
