My Little Black Cauldron

Chapter 13

Later that night, Rainbow Blitz was tending to the campfire with a stick he found while Rainbow Dash, Cranky Doodle Donkey, Winona, and Star Swirled The Bearded sat with him. After a few minutes of silence, Star Swirled The Bearded finally broke it as he said "What a bunch of blundering misfits! Things just never work out when you're dealing with ponies!" He glared at Rainbow Blitz as he said "You can go back to feeding dragons! I've had it! Goodbye!" He then disappeared as he flew back to his home. Rainbow Blitz sighed sadly as he said "Star Swirled's right. It's my fault! I let you down! Without my sword, I'm nothing! I'm just an assistant dragon-keeper!" Rainbow Dash patted his back as she said "Look, you are somepony! You must believe in yourself. I believe in you." "You-You do?" Rainbow Blitz asked as he held her hooves. "And I think that you're..." He stopped talking then he realized that he was holding her hooves. He pulled away in embarassment as he said "Uh, I mean...that is..." "Yes, Rainbow Blitz?" Rainbow Dash asked as Winona kissed Cranky Doodle Donkey who groaned in disgust, and they laughed. "What I mean is that I'm grateful." Rainbow Blitz said. "For all of you. You've been true friends. Now, it's up to me."

Suddenly, Rainbow Dash spotted King Sombra's griffins swooping around the cauldron as she said "Look!" "Uh-oh!" Winona said as she ran away, and hid behind a log. "Trouble! Goodbye!" "Quick!" Rainbow Blitz said as they ran for the black cauldron. "We can't let them find it!" Just then, King Sombra's pony henchmen led by Snips surrounded them as one of them said "Pig colt!" They tried to run away, but the pony henchmen surrounded them. Then, they tied them up, and escorted them back to King Sombra's castle as Winona looked on. A few moments later, they arrived, and they tied their back hooves to the wall of the courtroom as the rest of the pony henchmen moved the black cauldron, and Snips said "Get a move on! Careful now! You! Tie them up over there, and get that cart out of here!" He smirked at Rainbow Blitz and his friends as he said "Oh, I'm sorry. I've ignored you. You did come for the black cauldron, didn't you? Good. Then, climb in!" He laughed as he said "It'll only cost you your life!" Then, King Sombra entered the room as he gasped, and said "Oh! Everything is ready, sire!" King Sombra looked at Rainbow Blitz, and his friends as he said "My, such a brave abd handsome crew. A pig colt, a scullery mare maid, and a broken-down donkey minstrel! Perhaps it may interest you to see what fate has in store for you!" He laughed sinisterly as pulled a sheet off, and said "Now I call upon the army of the windigos! The cauldron born!"

King Sombra took the pony skeleton, and placed it in the black cauldron as he said "Arise my messengers of death! Our time has arrived!" Suddenly, the black cauldron started to shake, and leaking with blood. It then spit a huge ball of fire, producing a white mist that settled over the rotting pony skeletons as the pony henchmen looked on in awe. Outside the castle, Winona arrived as she watched the rats scurry away. Inside the castle, the pony skeletons suddenly grew skin made of ice, and a mane made of snow as their ice-blue eyes snapped open, and sprung to life. The pony henchmen screamed in terror as Rainbow Dash gasped, and said "Oh, it's horrible!" The windigos stood up, and with each step they started to take, a patch of ice was formed as King Sombra said "My phantom windigos have come to life! All dead from centuries past! Never has anypony created an army like this!" The pony henchmen ran for their lives as King Sombra said "Go forth my deathless warriors! Destroy all in your path!" As the windigos started to head towards the exit, Snips looked at King Sombra and said "Come, sire! We can get a better view from above!" They they headed for the balcony, leaving Rainbow Blitz, Rainbow Dash, and Cranky Doodle Donkey behind.
