Walking into headquarters, I had walked into my usual space that had a training equipment for new or current investigators who want to strengthen their skills. I put my usual white coat down and put my hair up into a bun.
"(L/n)-san!"
Cringing at the voice, I put up an act and smiled at the guy. "Furuta, it's still early for you to be here in my floor. Is there anything I can do to help?" I asked.
"I'm sure that you heard of the video my partner had released to get Rosé to come after him and such. I just wanted to apologize beyond his behave!" Furuta stated, his usual creepy smile plastered onto his face.
"Why would you apologize for him? He was just doing his job in anyway possible." Crossing my arms, I looked at him confused.
"Well, you are the queen of ghouls, (L/n)-san! I just wanted to run by you to make sure you don't go berserk on us!" Waving his hand up and down, he chuckled softly. "Also, I wanted to ask you something." Sighing, I nodded for him to continue. "What's is like being the ruler of cannibal animals like the ghouls?"
I was taken back by the questions. I just shrugged. "It's not something I wanna talk about, Furuta.. If that's all, please go with her partner Investigator Kijima.. I'm sure he—"
"—Please tell me, (L/n)-san! I wanna know!" He cut me off, holding my arm.
Doesn't he know when to drop something?! I thought, getting annoyed. As kindly as I could be, I looked up at him with an irritated smile and an irk that was throbbing. "Please let go on both this question and my arm before I kick your ass, Furuta.. I hate to hurt a comrade.." I growled.
"I'm joking, (L/n)-san!~" Letting go of my arm, he walked away and waved goodbye to me.
I shivered mentally at the conversation we had. Since I had met Furuta, there was just something about him I never really liked. I tried giving him hints but he just keeps coming after me and I hate it. There's times where I walk past him and Kijima that j just get tense and keep my guard up - and it's not Kijima.
"Knock knock!~" Looking at the door, I saw Haise. I smiled softly and immediately was spun around before he placed a kiss on my lips. "How's my future wife?~"
"Haise-sama.. It's been two days.. You need to calm down because we get busted with sexual harassment." I stated, patting his chest.
"I can't help but show my love for my soon-to-be wife!~" Haise smiled with a small blush on his cheek. "I got you coffee too, so I want my coffee bean to be nice and happy and not rude towards our coworkers."
Chuckling nervously, I looked at him. "So you heard..?"
"Of course I did! I could feel the tension outside of this room!" Removing his hands from my waist, he looked at me in a serious way. "You need to stop being so aggressive with Furuta-kun. He's just trying to understand you."
"Doesn't seem like it.." I mumbled out.
"I'm serious, (Y/n)-sama.. You mustn't let your emotions get into your relationship with other coworkers."
"Oh? And you don't see how others treat us and the Quinxs? Doesn't it anger you that they look at us as monsters?"
"That's not the same between you and Furuta." He sighed softly. "Please understand where I'm coming from."
I sighed and nodded. "Alright.." Walking towards the desk, I had gotten the cup of coffee and looked at Haise looking at me. His eyes were on my body. Chuckling, I pointed to my eyes. "Haise-sama.. I'm here." Blushing, he looked away. I giggled a bit. "As much as I understand where you come from, I just can't.. I've been protecting Takara for all my life.. Whenever I talk to him or even see him, I get tense.. He's a coworker - I understand that, but I can't help it. It's a reflex I have gained from my past."
Sighing, he nodded. "I understand.. I'll try to not let it get to me, but it is hard.."
"Thank you."
[Later that Day]
"..and so, you have to calculate every attack you pull. Even though you can see some of my weak points, I was able to defeat you easily. Remember that even with weak points exposed, ghouls can easily kill you using their weak points as a tactic." I stated to the newcomers. They took notes on my advice and what they saw, since I also demonstrated. "That's all I have for today, please clean up after yourselves."
Everyone started to clean up the room, leaving me to feel a pair of arms on my leg. "Mama!"
"Takara! How did your day go?" I picked up my own daughter and had her on my hip.
"I was with Papa today! He let me color on papers!" Takara cheered.
"Takara-chan, tell Mama how good you were." Haise walked towards us, holding the papers she drew on. It was mainly scribbles but being a good parent meant you need to support your child.
Gasping, I took a paper. "My goodness, looks like we have a artist here! My baby's so smart!" I cheered, causing Takara to grin and giggle.
"Let's go home, Papa is making pasta again." Haise said.
"Yay! I like Papa's pasta!"
Smiling, we both walked out the room and clocked out. But we ran into Furuta.
"My my, look at this little princess.. She's looks just like her father. Don't you?~" Furuta cooed, making Takara's smile fade away. He was close to touching her face until I gently smacked it away. "Oh?"
"(Y/n)-sama.." Haise hushed at me.
"Please don't touch my daughter like that.. She clearly doesn't like it.." I growled lowly, my blood boiling.
"I do apologize for causing someone like your daughter to not like me.." Furuta frowned sadly. I could tell it was fake.
"Now, if you excuse me.." I stated, walking past Furuta and Haise. There's something about him that I just don't like.. It's just he radiates bad news..
