Rafa was in fairly good spirits by the time they found him by the locker room. It never took him long to move on after a loss, and he tended to internalise it anyway, rather than openly express his emotions.

"You played well Raf, you know that yeah?" Xisca asked him, after the two had greeted each other with a kiss.

"Not well enough," he shrugged. "It's okay. We go again, eh?"

"Course," Xisca smiled.

"Can't believe Nick asked you where to serve it," he said, turning his gaze on Luna.

"He's just trying to wind you up, come on Rafa you know that," Luna sighed. "I'm sorry you lost. You okay?"

"Fine," Rafa nodded, with a small smile, opening his arms to hug his best friend. "I'll get him in the Australian Open."

"That's the spirit," Luna grinned, hugging him tightly.

"I've got a few things to sort out here, will you guys wait for me outside?"

"Yep," Luna nodded.

"Xisca and I should go dump our bags," said Maribel. "We can meet you somewhere after we do that?"

"Sure, we'll meet you for dinner somewhere?" Luna suggested, glancing at Rafa. "You up for it?"

"You girls pick a restaurant and we'll do it," Rafa nodded in agreement. "Luna and I will meet you there."

"Sounds good," Xisca nodded. "Let's go Maribel."

Rafa disappeared back into the locker room. The two girls said a quick goodbye to Luna, promising to text her the details once they'd decided on a restaurant, and then Luna was alone. She found a bench in the hall to sit on, carefully positioning her access pass at her hip so no one would come along and question why she was in there. She wasn't in the mood for unnecessary encounters with the arena staff. She took out her phone and began scrolling through Instagram idly, waiting for her best friend to show up.

"I think I owe you a thank you, Luna Rodriguez."

Luna looked up to see Nick had appeared in the hallway, tennis bag slung over his shoulder, fresh from the shower.

"I actually can't believe you," Luna shook her head with a smile. "Rafa was so pissed at you."

"Not surprised," Nick shrugged. "I would be."

"That's why you did it, I guess," said Luna.

"One of the reasons, yeah," responded the Australian. "So who were you cheering for then?"

"Really Nick?" She retorted. "My best friend, or some random Australian dude. I'll let you figure that one out."

"Nah, your best friend, or the most entertaining player you've ever seen in your life," Nick corrected her with a smirk.
