Luna tried to put the incident out of her mind for the next few days. She was not entirely successful. Memories of dark brown laughing eyes, and an Australian accent kept floating through her mind, and she literally resorted to shaking her head to get rid of them. But eventually she had to face it that she was curious. She wanted to spend time with him, and get to know him better. For all his acting up for the cameras, his breaking rackets, chairs, drink bottles, and talking back to the umpire, there must be a reason for it. And from what she knew, he was a genuinely funny guy. The hard exterior couldn't hide that. She wanted to know why he could so easily switch from the guy who everyone said was wasting his talent, to the guy who could beat Rafael Nadal, the world number one.
Well, you know what they say. Be careful what you wish for.
Luna was out for a run. She'd brought her smaller camera with her, and had gotten some vlog footage of the city, stopping occasionally to film some more cinematics of things she found interesting. Rafa was training, and Xisca and Maribel had gone shopping (again.) Luna liked shopping as well, but she'd done a fair bit of it already since she'd arrived in Australia. Besides, she wanted solitude to sort her head out. She'd had to wait until evening to find time for her run - the Australian heat prevented anything earlier being possible. She didn't envy Raf having to train in it.
"The people you meet."
Luna looked up at the sound of his voice to see Nick Kyrgios standing before her. He'd obviously been running too - his skin was shiny with sweat, but his eyes were bright.
"What are the chances?" Luna shook her head with a smile. "I didn't think you did cardio, Nick."
"You think this body maintains itself?" He raised an eyebrow at her teasing. "Run with me?"
"Yeah, why not," Luna shrugged, turning to join him.
She didn't want to overthink it. It was probably a bad idea to spend more time with him, but she'd only come to that conclusion if she allowed herself time to consider it. The two were silent as they jogged along together. Perhaps neither of them were really sure how to break the silence. Luna certainly hadn't been expecting to see him today.
"When do you play next?" She asked at last.
"Tomorrow evening," Nick said. "Semi final. I'm playing Tsitsipas."
"More dragon slaying then?" She asked.
Nick chuckled in acknowledgement.
"Yeah, probably. He's good, but I can beat him."
"Didn't you guys play doubles together once?"
"I love that you know this fact, Luna," Nick said with a smirk, glancing at the Spanish girl. Luna rolled her eyes at him, but she was smiling too.
"I enjoy watching tennis," she shrugged. "It's pretty much my job, so..."
"But you prefer football."
