Thoughts on the last chapter? I promise that the story will tie together! I'm sorry if you don't like the backstory! But we can't always be perfect, we need some oompf. Be patient, I'm sure you'll like how things turn out later on :) It is a Capmirez story, after all ;)

Due to the fact that I'm technically a celebrity, I doa lot of speeches at the LGBTQ center I work for. When it comes to teenagers, it is often easiest to knock down their walls when they're hearing from an actress from Grey's Anatomy as opposed to a stranger who is trying to force you to come out to them. Teens know Grey's, they know Callie, and they know me.
"I know that it's hard," I say, looking out at the crowd of kids. The auditorium is packed, some kids wearing pride shirts with a smile on their face and others in old clothes with a trash bag full of belongings because they were kicked out of their house that day. "I am a Latina raised in a Catholic family who played a lesbian for the whole world to see, for godsake!"
A few cheers and chuckles resonate off the walls following that line. I smile.
"I know what it's like to feel unaccepted. And other than acceptance, I know what it feels like to be mistreated by people you love. I was cheated on by my husband and then the person I thought I loved claimed that we weren't together. I know what it's like to be mistreated. I know what it's like to grieve. I lost my best friend to AIDS a few years ago. I know what it's like to struggle with depression, anxiety, and feeling unworthy." I pace the stage, looking at individual faces, my heart breaking when I see their tears.
"I know how you are feeling, and that's why I am here. That is why I am talking to you right now. I get you. I see you. I love you. I accept you!" I grin.
"And lastly, for all of you newcomers? Welcome to the LGBTQ LA Center for Homeless Teens. You are safe here, and we love you."
With that, I begin to walk off of the stage to the right, smiling from ear to ear as the crowd erupts with shouts of joy and support.
I am finding fulfillment at the center and that's enough to distract me from my thoughts. I love helping these kids and even though they don't know it, the kids are helping me too. They're keeping my mind and focus off of the fact that I miss Jessica everyday.
It is so hard at night, laying in a bed without Jessica, knowing that I won't see her the next day to film or knowing that I will never hold up an X Ray or crack jokes with Kevin while he directs. I miss Grey's everyday. I miss Callie Torres everyday. I worry for Callie, because I feel like her story wasn't over. Above everything, I grieve the absence of Jessica. I miss her scent, her hair, her hands, her arms, her dimples, her sparkling eyes, her laugh...
"Good speech."
I am shaken from my thoughts when someone approaches me backstage. I look up from staring at my feet to meet the gaze of a beautiful woman.
I smirk, "Hey thanks. I don't think I've ever seen you around... I'm Sara."
The beautiful woman with complexion the color of coffee and eyes the color of coal grins, her white teeth shining. "Ramona."
Pulling away, she continues, "I am starting a center just like this, but for the east coast. I have been hired as the planner for the new center, and I came by to check the facility out." Not so subtly moving her eyes down my figure, she says "but the facility isn't the only thing I'm checking out, huh?"
I am flattered, I hadn't been flirted with in what felt like ages. Playing it cool, I continued to play her game. "I'm glad I'm not the only one enjoying the view."
She was wearing a bright yellow top and white jeans with sandals. "You know, I'm from Chicago and I don't know many places to eat in LA." She walks closer, grabbing the sleeve of my shirt. "You don't have any recommendations, do you?"
I look at my pretend watch as my shoulder length hair gets in my face. Brushing it away, I shrug. "It is my lunch break, I don't have to do a speech until three. Would you like for me to just take you somewhere?"
Smirking, she nods. She loops her arm in mine and off we go.
Shockingly, my mind was not on Jessica.
