Step 2 | Accident

Makomo and Giyuu stood before one another, their contrasting swords in front of them and their body in a fighting stance, eyes glinting with determination and seriousness as both of them waiting for their coach's cue to battle.

'You can do it, Makomo, for the plan.' She tried to reassure herself, but her palms secreting sweat and possibly interfere with her fighting by slipping the sword away from her hands says so otherwise.

"Fight!"

Sabito, Tanjiro, and the other Breath Users club members stood at the sidelines, watching intently as the two students battle, their movements seemingly as fast as lightning.

'Please!' Makomo pleaded, panting as she tried to catch up against Giyuu who never wavered even once, his eyes drained of life. 'Just one scratch is fine!'

She didn't know where she got her sudden boost of energy and strength, for she saw Giyuu kneeling before her, eyes wide and cupping the side of his left cheek as warm, crimson liquid slowly oozed out of between his fingers.

Makomo took the time to control her breath again before she saw her upperclassman stood up once again, ignoring the bleeding wound and pain pricking his cheek and struck again, nearly impaling the girl with his sword if it wasn't for her swiftly twisting her body aside.

'How can Giyuu-senpai endure the pain?' She thought as she couldn't do anything but dodge his attacks, her eyes trailing his every move to find an opening in which she could strike to without majorly hurting her senpai.

'There!' Her eyes widened when she noticed his flank is out in the open. She ducked in time as Giyuu's sword went flying over her head, striking a shallow wound on his flank.

Giyuu hissed as he felt the searing pain on the specific part, kneeling on the mat again while stopping the blood from oozing and dripping on the floor.

"That's enough." Urokodaki stopped the battle, gesturing for Sabito to aid Giyuu as he pulled Makomo aside to point out her flaws and compliment her improvements.

Sabito's hands stripped Giyuu away from his haori and unbuttoned his shirt as Mitsuri brought the first aid kit over, cringing at the sight of the wound.

The raven-haired male honestly didn't mind the other male's subconscious actions. In fact he, embarrassingly, gets wet dreams about him from time to time.

More on that later.

Sabito soaked the cotton pad in alcohol and gently swiped it across the wound to clean it off, earning a hiss of pain in return.

"Shh, you'll be fine." The peach-haired male whispered, reassuring the minor-ly cut male as he kept dabbing the pad on wound. "You'll be fine."

Sabito covered the wound with a gauze pad and secured it with a layer of bandage then buttoned up his shirt again, moving on to his cheek.

Giyuu held in his breath as the other male seriously worked on patching the male up, barely noticing the closeness between their faces.

"There, all done." Sabito smiled at him, before realising how close their faces are, eyes widening in realisation.

The two looked away from one another, burying their faces into the palms of their hands to hide the flustered expression and the embarrassed blood rush on their cheeks.

"You did a good job." Urokodaki complimented Makomo, patting her head. "I really hope the two would just confess already."

"You know, Urokodaki-sama?" The girl asked in disbelief because she and Tanjiro is so sure he only told Mitsuri and Tokito.

"It's obvious." Their coach shook his head, smirking at the flustered duo.

"Urokodaki-sama knows, Makomo-chan?"

"Yes, Tanjiro. In fact, he knew long before the rumours started spreading throughout the school."

"That's quite shocking..."

"After all, Urokodaki-sama has been their coach ever since the start of the Breath Users club, so I'm not too surprised about him finding out."

"Haha, you're right. I guess, step 3 will start."

"I'm most excited about this step, because you will have to make Sabito-san jealous~."

"A- Are you... Sure I can absolutely pull this part of the plan off?"

"Of course! You're the closest to Giyuu-senpai so you can do it!"
