The next day, I left my mate with my mother. I strode purposefully toward my office where Calmone waited along with my father.

"What's the news?" I asked without wasting any time.

Twin grim faces exchanged looks. It exasperated me. My foot tapped on its own accord. I waited for them to get it over with. Constel woke up sensing the serious atmosphere.

"Two prisoners who you questioned have run away," Calmone replied.

I looked at him and asked slowly, "What?"

He swallowed. "I've two teams looking into it."

"How did they escape? When?"

"After midnight. I don't know yet how did they escape, my king."

"Then what do you know? I ordered you specifically to keep an eye on this. Where were you so busy?" I bellowed.

He lowered his head, "I apologize, Fizayer."

"Son," my father interrupted.

I stopped him with my palm. He slid slowly down on his chair.

"Your incompetence is showing. Either bring them to me till tomorrow morning or be ready to lose your position."

He sucked in a breath. My father interrupted again but I was having none of it. Striding out of the office in anger, I went to the courtroom where I could control something.

I felt my anger coming out in waves. Pin drop silence greeted me even when I called out the first subject to step forward.

Constel materialized in my mind, "You need to dowse your head into the cold water."

"Shutup Constel. Don't irritate me."

Even after five minutes, no one came forward so I dismissed the whole session. Be it this way. I wouldn't be able to pass judgements in this state of mind anyways.

I paced an empty courtroom. The glow of God Emyst beckoned me. Its steady spinning was hypnotic. It pulled me into a daze and slowly challenged my reality.

Laughter reached the room before Imeeshi. She was pregnant. Plopping down on the silky bedspread, she rubbed her hand in a circular motion on her swelled stomach. She looked toward the door longingly for someone. But no one came. Slowly, she turned her head to the right where I was standing and looked directly into my eyes. Her eyes widened in shock. My name was whispered on a gasp, "Fizayer." She then clutched her belly and apologized, "I'm sorry."

I was splashed with the cold water. Frantically I looked around till I realized it came from the puddle of holy water on which God Emyst sat. It glowed once before resuming its spinning.

"Constel?" I called for him.

"Yes."

"The vision. Whose baby it was?"

"Not yours," Constel surprisingly replied.

I bristled at his answer. This day just kept getting better and better.

"Whose is it?" I demanded angrily.

"The great king, Sugo," again Constel replied.

"Is he alive?"

"No."

I breathed easy. "Is this Vision true?"

"Do you want to believe it?"

I closed my eyes at that question.

Cold sweat dripped down the length of my spine. The sound of the door clicking open echoed. Soft steps advanced toward me but I didn't turn around.

"Fizayer, I'm sorry," Imeeshi softly apologized sliding her arms around my waist.

My eyes opened and I turned around quickly.

"What are you apologizing for?" I tilted my head.

"I just realized I have been a very bad mate to you. Making you chase after me when I should have been more understanding," she said.

I took a deep breath and prayed to every God to give me strength. The vision had uprooted me. It was too early for me to see her in a different light. I was feeling betrayed and at the end of my tolerance for today.

"Imeeshi, I told you to stay in the tower. You cannot come to court daily."

She looked at me with hurtful eyes. I felt like a monster.

Slowly, she stepped back and nodded.

Turning sharply, she briskly walked to the door and halted, "I apologize. I'm yet to learn what I'm supposed to do and where to be."

With that, she was gone. I clenched my hands and commanded my feet to stay put.
