Harper's POV

I paced the room over and over again. Sonny had just left to find us some dinner to bring back up with him. Apparently, he had chefs downstairs who took care of that kind of thing, meaning that he wouldn't be long at all.

I didn't know how long Sonny planned to keep me in his room for. The closest I'd come to outside was staring out of the window, I'd been waiting for my wounds to heal enough for me to make my move.

One night I'd worked up the courage to ask him when I could leave. He'd just looked at me with a crazed glint in his eye and replied
'Oh no you don't want to do that.' The conversation
ended there. His expression sending chills down my spine, making me reluctant to ever ask again.

Since I'd pulled him into the bed Sonny had been sleeping next to me every night. Each night kissing my temple before turning off the light. It was both endearing and unsettling.

On the one hand he was kind, he looked after me and dressed all the cuts on my back, making sure I had a safe place to sleep each night.

However on the other hand, he wouldn't let me leave and sometimes he said the most unnerving things. Not to mention the fact that he was the one who sent me to torture in the first place.

I couldn't figure him out. Just as I'd stopped pacing, the handle turned and the door opened, revealing the familiar face of a curly haired man.

He began to speak ' I hope that pizza's okay, but I brought...' he stopped short when he saw my face.

'What's wrong?' He asked setting aside the plates of pizza, taking my hands in his.

'Sonny, I-I need to leave, I can't ... you've been amazing, but I need to see my brother, I need... freedom.'

His face morphed, several different emotions flitting across it.

'We just have to wait a little longer Harp, just a little longer, then you can have all the freedom you want, and you really want to see your family after everything they've done to you? You don't need them, you have me.'

He had a point and, in truth, I didn't really want to see my family, except for Rye, but I had been missing him almost my whole life. The only reason I'd mentioned him was because Sonny had told me he'd had a sister and I thought it might persuade him to let me finally leave.

'Wait for what?' I responded 'what's this big thing that I'm supposed to wait for until I can leave. Not my back, you know I'm getting better everyday, I just want to go home.'

Sonny appeared to become more and more frustrated with every word. ' Harper,' he bit back, as if he was holding back as much of his rising temper as he could, ' just one more day, one more day until everything changes. Forget your family they won't be a problem anymore, trust me. This is your home.'

My eyes widened in realization. He was never going to let me go. He needed me as some sort of trophy.

He was going to kill my family and I needed to warn them.

I waited until night to make my move.

Sonny turned off the light, kissing my forehead as he always did then whispering how everything would change after tomorrow, that we could be free.

I almost scoffed at that, instead nodding my head pretending to believe his words, his lies.

After about an hour his breath faded into soft pants. His arms curling around my waist holding me tightly. I wondered if he knew subconsciously that I wouldn't be with him much longer.

I carefully shimmied my way out of his grip. Freezing every time he moved or his breathing pattern changed, even slightly.

Slowly I warily crept around the bed to the window that I had noticed the first time he ever left me alone. The window was always open, he never closed it, not once. So it was easy to swing my legs over the sill, taking a deep breath, preparing to dive for the tree. If I missed the fall would probably break both of my legs and Sonny would definitely never let me out then.

Just a I jumped I cast a careless glance backwards at the room I'd left behind.

He sat up on his bed, eyes locked on mine, a devastated expression laying on his features.

In shock I barely had time to grasp the fast approaching branches before I collided
with the tree. While I shimmied my way down the trunk I couldn't get his face out of my head.

And as I began to run across the field towards the beach, I heard a bone chilling cry. One thing I knew for sure was that Sonny wasn't happy, and he wouldn't rest until he had me again.

But I wouldn't let him.

Oop so Sonny's just a little bit crazy 😂
