Harper's POV

Stalking through the town leading up to my house, there was a lot on my mind. I knew that once I got there everyone would pretend as if I hadn't gone, once I told my father of the threat he wouldn't entirely believe me, instead, he would put a few extra  on duty to guard the house. His arrogance would be his downfall.

I was so busy wondering how on earth I could protect my family, I hardly noticed a boy barrel into me, but when I did I looked down to see it was Brooklyn, the boy from the coffee shop. Holding me in a tight hug. It was strange, people hardly ever hugged me, especially people who I hadn't known for  very long at all.

When I was finally released I looked at him with confusion. In response he  spoke ' I got so worried about you, you went from visiting everyday to not at all.' I didn't speak  so he carried on, ' I'm sorry, I know we don't know each other very well, but I was really worried, but I didn't know if it was something I said that made you leave.'

'Brook-'  I began, but I was then cut off by the shorter boy.

'Omg it was me wasn't it, you've been avoiding me-'
'Brook-' I tried again.
'It's okay I'll go, sorry to disturb you.'

As he turned to leave I grabbed his arm, not at all sure why, 'Brook, it's fine, I just went away for a while, but I'm back now.'

He looked at me with wide eyes, lips slightly parted as if my sudden movements shocked him. I watched the gears turning in his head as he processed my words, he looked adorable. Impulsively I cupped his face, locking onto his eyes, resisting the urge to lean in.

I snapped back into reality, snatching my hand back as if I'd been burnt.

'I've got to go now.' I said to him, before turning away and running off, disappearing into the crowd, filled with confusion, I couldn't let him distract me.

As I turned I saw his confused expression, one that I'm sure mirrored mine.
