Wasted Youth // Matty Healy ♣ The 1975

I sipped my hot chocolate quietly as I looked over at Matty who smirked at me. 

"So," I said. "You're in a band?" he nodded his head. 

"Yeah, actually... we're quite popular. We actually got onto the radio last week!" he grinned excitedly and I grinned. 

"Wow! That's huge! Well done." I smiled as I dug my fork into my slice of chocolate cake and brought it up to my mouth. 

"Thanks." Matty smiled a bit. 

"So... what are you guys called?" 

"Um, The 1975." he said, dragging his hands through his hair and smiling at me. "We have some stuff on youtube. Quite a bit actually..." I nodded my head as I finished my drink. 

"Okay, I'll check you guys out." I smiled.

'Hey Julie, I was just wondering if you're up for doing something this weekend?' 

I stared at the text from Matty. 

We had become rather unlikely friends, surprisingly. We had met up a couple of times over the past three weeks since my first proper date with Ben.

 'What did you have in mind?' I replied, placing my phone down on the kitchen counter and walking across the room to the fridge. 

I took out a bottle of milk, a small pot of strawberry yogurt and a couple of bananas and walked to the counter again. 

I put everything in the blender and put the lid on it, then plugged it into the socket on the wall and pressed the button, mixing everything together. 

Olivia was in the sitting room watching The Lego Movie, surrounded by the dog and about twenty stuffed toys. 

Everything was rather calm for once. 

My phone beeped just as I finished blending the smoothie. I picked it up and read it. 

'I thought we could go to this party my friend is hosting.' 

I rolled my eyes. 

'Sure. But I'm not drinking anything alcoholic. When is it?'

'Saturday night. I'll pick you up at seven.' 

'Okay. See you then.' 

I put my phone down and poured the smoothie into two mugs, then I walked into the living room to watch The Lego Movie with Olivia.
