I looked at Matty and sighed quietly.

"Right," I said, shutting the door behind us as we walked into the kitchen. I had eventually managed to persuade Olivia to watch Frozen with the dog in stead of me. "What happened?"

He sighed and shut his eyes. He dragged his hands through his curly hair and looked at me.

"Basically I got in a fight with these guys because I owe them money." He said, making it sound like that was it. Like it was that simple, in reality, it was quite the opposite.

"Okay, why did you owe them money? What for?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and trying to ignore every curve of his face.

"Don't play dumb, Julie..." He sighed. I shook my head.

"What do you owe them money for?" I repeated.

He groaned and pulled his hair backwards with far too much force.

"Cocaine, Julie."

What did I expect?

Certaintly not that.

I sighed and shut my eyes.

"Cocaine?" I asked, not wanting to look at him in case I saw him in a different light. I didn't want to. I just wanted to see him as Matty, that cute guy in the band who I met in a museum, but really, I never really thought of him /not/ doing cocaine.

"Yeah..."

Suddenly instinct began to kick in and I realised what was most important, and that wasn't keeping my friendship with a potential drug addict band member.

"You shouldn't have come here." I said simpy, opening my eyes.

He looked so different now. Just after he said that one fucking word. Suddenly he looked tired and sad and impossible to figure out. He didn't look like Matty anymore, or maybe he looked even more like Matty, I wasn't sure.

"I know, I'm sorry, Julie, it was really stupid of me."

"Yeah, it was." I said.

He winced and looked down at his muddy shoes.

/Matty's POV/

She suddenly seemed so drained. It hurt to see her looking like that, and it hurt even more knowing that it was my fault.

"I'm so sorry." I said. She just shook her head and sighed quietly.

"Do you want a coffee?" She asked me, catching me by surprise.

I shook my head softly.

"No thanks."

She pulled a chair out from under the table and sat down on it, I did the same with the one nearest to me.

"So..." She took a deep breath. "Do you do it, or whatever, lots?"

I shrugged.

"Whenever I feel I need it, really." I answered.

She sighed and nodded her head.

"I guess there's no chance in hell of you wanting to be with me now, right?" I joked, but neither of us laughed.

"There was never a chance to begin with." She scoffed.

Fuck.

----------

/Lizzy's POV/

There were exactly twenty six minutes until Frozen was scheduled to finish, but I was pretty sure Olivia had fallen asleep.

Matty and I had spent the past hour staring at each other and barely saying anything.

I couldn't bear it.

It wasn't good.

"Matty..." I sighed. He nodded his head and looked at me across the table with wide eyes. "I- Um... after tomorrow morning, I don't really want to see you. Only because of Olivia, okay? I really like you, you're great but Olivia is pretty much the only real family I have left now, who, y'know, is alright and I don't want anything happening to her..."

I kept telling myself that it was for the best.

He nodded his head softly.

"Yeah I understand." He looked more than disappointed, so upset that it physically hurt to look at the creases in his forehead and the way his eyes went dull and his lips shrunk away, making it look impossible for him to smile.

Jesus, I needed to see Ben.
