"Raven, what happened."
"I- I don't know. Jesus, Dr. Griffin is she going to be okay?" Raven's voice is distant. Farther away than it's been in a while. It's cloudy and cracked.
"Yes, the bleeding has stopped but I need to know what happened Raven." Your hands are held with palms up on the side of your body. You can feel pressure on both of your wrists as blurry lights zoom past you from above.
"I- I left her to give the investigators privacy with her. They- they said- Oh my god there is so much blood." Your knuckles brush against the leather of the notebook that is slightly tucked beneath your upper thigh.
"Raven, please focus. What did the investigators want?" You can feel the two voices drift off from your consciousness as you focus on the tucked-away leather. The cuts dip into the cover. Your fingers seem to stick to the scars that hold unknown stories. You seem attracted to the history of the cover that caused these blemishes.
"They were updating Y/n on the investigation. I- I stayed outside the door and heard her trying to defend her parents- she- she was trying to defend Cayen but I couldn't take the pain in her voice." Your eyelids grow heavy as the lights above you slow down to a stop. Your knuckles rub against the pages. They're old. Weak. Easy to bend. You close your eyes as you feel the pages of Cayen's sketches stick out in odd directions from the rest of the pages.
"Did you hear what the investigators said?" Raven shakes her head. You feel the darkness fall over you, their words jumbling slightly in your head.
"N- no not really. I heard something about drugs and that's when Y/n tried to reason with them." You release a breath, feeling a pinch in your arm before darkness follows.

No one's pov:
"She is stable and resting." Abby moves across the room to sit beside Raven. The younger girl hasn't spoken since Abby put the needle in Y/n's arm. She hasn't stopped looking at the small bruise the needle left as her mind races in all different directions.
"Are you sure she will be okay?" Raven's voice shakes as she continues to stare at Y/n's placid body, the smaller brunette's chest rising and falling slowly beneath her clothes.
"Yes, I will give her a new bottle of Xana-" Raven's eyes dart to Abby.
"No- Uh... that's not necessary. I will be with her and help her. She doesn't need the pills." Abby pinches her eyebrows together. It's clear with how her eyes are watching Raven that she is questioning the younger girl's quick reply.
"Are you sure?"
"Without a doubt." With a sigh, Abby nods her head. Both women shift their gazes back to the sleeping brunette. Everything is quiet with only Y/n's calm breathing to be heard.
"Do you know how she caused these wounds to herself?" Raven shakes her head.
"I looked all over the bathroom floor but couldn't find anything sharp."
"Did you check her clothes?"
"N- no." They both looked at each other with the same thought in their heads before both brunettes make their way back to the bed that Y/n is resting on, each taking position on either side of her. Abby starts with the pockets of the sleeping girl's pants, checking both the front and back pockets. Raven follows suit, taking the lead to also check the waistband of the young girl's pants to make sure nothing is hidden there.
Abby pulls at the sleeves of Y/n's shirt, eventually deciding to take the shirt off the young girl with Raven's help, "I see that she has new tattoos since I have last seen her, two of which are still red."
"Uh... ya. I've been helping her get them to help her cope." Abby nods while moving across the room to grab a small blanket that she rests on top of Y/n's small frame.
"That's good. What do the two newest ones mean?" Abby continues rummaging through the shirt she got off the small girl, making sure she doesn't miss any secret pockets or extra lips of fabric.
"Um... the one on her shoulder that looks like a barcode circle is a vocal recording of her father calling her princess." Raven is finishing up checking Y/n's socks, her stomach feeling weird as both women continue to move around the girl who is as pale as a dead body.
"That's sweet." Raven nods, bumping into the chair next to the bed and quickly leaning over to catch Y/n's sweatshirt before it can fall to the floor.
"Ya, I thought so too," Raven folds the sweatshirt neatly before placing it on the seat, not noticing Abby's curious gaze on the sweatshirt as the younger brunette places the shirt on the top corner of the bed, "It was Cayen's idea.""He was a very good kid," Abby shifts around the table, shifting her gaze over the sleeping girl's body to the sweatshirt.
"Ya..." Raven sighs leaning on the bed and playing with the ends of Y/n's hair, "and the one on her collar bone is in ancient greek text of a quote I learned in history class." Abby picks up the sweatshirt feeling Raven's curious gaze on her.
"Does she know ancient greek?" Raven chuckles while Abby starts to search the pockets of the old sweatshirt. Raven moves her gaze from Abby to Y/n's unmoving body. She smiles softly to herself seeing one of Y/n's fingers is tucked between the pages of the notebook that is partially hidden beneath the girl's leg.
"I doubt it but I told her what it means and she seemed to understand that it is something that can be hard to recognize and remember but she needs to work to do so," Raven moves her gaze quickly to look at Abby as a reaction of the hiss she hears from the older woman. Abby pulls out her hand from the pocket, a small trickle of blood spouting from a couple of her fingertips.
"What does it say?" Raven moves over beside Abby, taking the sweatshirt in her hand. She gently pushes her hand into the pocket she believes Abby was just in while Abby goes and grabs a towel to put on her fingers.
After a moment of searching and moving to another pocket, Raven's fingers lightly glide over a rigid edge. She watches Abby move back to her, her hand sliding out of the pocket to hold a piece of bloody glass, "it says don't let the pain destroy you."
** A note: I wrote a short story called Glass on here. It was one of my first stories and a lot of the themes from that line up with this chapter. If you have free time, feel free to go check out that book and let me know what you think.
