I released a nervous sigh as I kept checking myself on the mirror in front of me. Chaeyoung and Mina's fifth anniversary celebration is tonight, the small event will be in their own house. I don't know why I'm nervous though, my friends will be there and also I have my sister this time but the feeling of nervousness is still there no matter how hard I try not to feel it.
"What are you so nervous for?" I heard Tzuyu speak behind me, "This is your best friend's event."
I sighed again as I face her, my hands automatically fumbling the hem of my sleeves, "I don't know," I answered honestly.
Tzuyu stared at me a little longer, trying to find something I don't even know. She walked closer to me to fix my dress, "Just relax, unnie. This is a happy celebration and this is a day for your friends."
I feel my shoulders lowering in relief and I smiled at Tzuyu, "Thank you. I'm so happy to have you here with me, Tzuyu."
"I'm happy too, I look forward to my stay here," My sister smiled widely that showed her deep dimples, "I've always wanted to see the place where you and father grew up."
I led us back into my leaving room before asking , "How's dad anyway?"
"He's good, he dotes on mom and I," Tzuyu answered.
"Then why did you ran from your mother?" I asked her as we both took a seat on the sofa.
"She's starting to make me meet 'potential business partners'," Tzuyu rolled her eyes, "I'm still young, I don't wanna get married to some perverted douchebag."
I felt sorry for her, Tzuyu's mother couldn't touch me no matter how hard she tries because she knew my father will always have my back even if they love each other very dearly. I've always been free to do whatever I want and I'm always grateful to for my dad's support every step of the way, he knew I'm not looking for any kind of relationship right now despite my step mom's insistence, that's why he put me here. Now that I'm unreachable, my step mom turned her attention on Tzuyu and she's going through what I've gone through because of her mother's insistence.
"I'm sorry," I told her softly, "If I didn't leave, you would still be living freely."
Tzuyu shook her head, "Even though I'm in this predicament, I still think it was good for you to be here."
"Despite mother's clear disdain, father and I are very happy for you to be here, unnie," Tzuyu smiled at me softly as she patted my head like what I always do to her when we were younger, "We both think it's time for you to live freely after all the sacrifices you've made for our family's sake."
I couldn't help but tear up at Tzuyu's words, I never knew they were thinking of me like that. I knew it was a little suspicious of my father to give me the ropes to manage his most treasured island and hearing Tzuyu's words made it all make sense.
"You guys done being all mushy in there?" We turned to Nayeon and Momo who's frantically wiping tears off their eyes, "Why are you guys being cute like this? You're ruining our make up!"
We all laughed at their silliness but I'm grateful for Nayeon and Momo as they made the atmosphere brighter, with matching grins, Tzuyu and I walked to them and engulfed them in a hug. The couple whined and complained but nevertheless hugged us both in return and we stayed like that for a while.
A horn of a car blared outside that disturbed our moment. We broke our group hug and I glanced at my watch to see that it was about time to be on our way to Chaeyoung and Mina's house. Before I can say anything, the three of them rushed to to the window to look outside.
"Dubu, you're sexy assistant is here!" Momo squealed and I could only roll my eyes.
"You guys should seriously get over her!" I muttered as I gathered my things.
