I strafed to my right to avoid the incoming rock.
"C'mon. C'MON!" I thought while reaching behind my back.
I reached back and I felt the pistol grip handle. I pulled on the handle and it was my trusty UFG. I aimed the muzzle upwards and I pulled the trigger. A green fiber of light appeared from the end of the barrel. The beam reached the roof and I was pulled up from the grasp of the boss.
"That was too close," I thought while looking at my HP.
I slid down the wall to the floor. I noticed Asuna and Sinon helping Kirito out. I glanced back at the boss who was staring down at them. I raised my rifle and dumped a whole magazine. The boss turned around and faced me. I reached for a small tube on my left shoulder
"Wait! Kaito! Don't do it!" Kirito protested.
I kneeled down and striked one end of the tube on the floor. The end of the tube lit up with a bright red flame. I raised the flare above my head which drew the boss's attention away from Kirito's location.
Kirito's POV
"Don't do it!" I protested.
I tried to throw off Asuna's and Sinon's grip on my arms. I was being dragged back to the exit of the room.
"Don't Kirito, your health is too low!" Asuna disagreed.
"I can't just leave him!" I said while struggling.
I gazed back at Kaito who was still waving the flare above his head. Even though the boss was at two health bars left, there was no way he could kill it by himself.
When we reached the exit of the boss room, two raiders closed the door. The doors shut with an echoing thud. I got up from the ground and ran to the door.
"Hold him back!" one of the raiders shouted.
A couple of people blockaded the door.
"We can't just leave him in there!" I yelled.
"If you go back in there, you die," the leader stated, "It's best if we just retreat and come back another day."
Everyone agreed with him and started to shuffle out of the dungeon. I looked back at everyone else.
"He's right...C'mon let's go," I sighed.
I trudged back to the exit of the dungeon behind everyone else. I could hear muffled gunfire and explosions coming from the boss room. After a couple of paces, the doors shook and all sounds stopped.
"Kaito," I thought while spinning around.
I ran to the door and waited to open it. Everyone else followed me to the door.
Kaito's POV
I leaned on one of the broken stone pillars. I tightly gripped onto the M1911 Itsuki gave to me as a gift. The boss laid on the floor dead and waiting to be scrapped. I gazed up at my health bar which was slowly depleting to zero.
"Kaito!" someone shouted.
I slowly turned my head to see Kirito sprinting over to me. He slid over to me with a health potion in his hand. He raised it to my mouth but I used my hand to block it.
