when jeongguk heard the cafe bell ring, he raised his head from his phone immediately. the boy's gaze looked over to the entrance of the building, seeing taehyung make his way in.
a smile was plastered on his face. jeongguk quickly checked his appearance in his phone camera, only just realising how dead he looked.
his face was pale and gaunt, the dark eye bags and visible cheekbones making him look like a tim burton character. jeongguk sighed as he put his phone away.
"hey," said a deep voice behind jeongguk. he looked around to see taehyung standing there, a boxy smile plastered onto his face as well.
"hi," jeongguk giggled. he saw taehyung take a seat and laugh when he saw the boy's fruit salad.
taehyung's eyes sparkled as he stared at jeongguk. "I've been meaning to ask you this for a while but...are you okay? you seem sick- not that you look ugly or anything i just..."
jeongguk laughed a little bit too loudly at the boy's statement. it had been a while since he had laughed or felt any emotion.
"i'm fine. thanks for being there for me, tae."

the pair had spent their whole morning talking and now were spending their afternoon's texting.
jeongguk sat cramped up on his bed, his thoughts running wild.
for the first time in ages, jeongguk screamed when he saw the mirror. he screamed when he saw his bones. he felt disgusting.
not knowing what to think, the boy just stared at his phone. he felt bad for making taehyung worry about him but also knew he should be treating himself better.
but at the same time, he didn't deserve anything.
not even a caring friend.
