Quick note: I can't believe people are actually reading this, but thank you!
This part takes place in the burglars' and Jimin's POV. I'll write this part from Jungkook's perspective in the next chapter.
"What did you have to make so much noise for?!"
"...Sorry, hyung. It's too dark in here!"
The two burglars, who had been hiding in a storage room, were now surrounded by boxes, the contents scattered all over the floor.
"Sometimes I really wonder how you've made it this far, Hoesok..."
"I'm really sorry, Jinnie hyung", replied Hoseok, wrapping his arms around the elder.
"Yeah, yeah. Help me clean up this mess!", said Jin, pushing Hoseok off of him.
The two scrambled around, shoving items back into boxes, and doing their best to stack them as they had been before.
Once the job was done, Jin slowly opened the door, Hoseok following close behind him.
The burglars peered around the corner, scanning their view of the mall. Suddenly, a light appeared, and the two jumped back into the room, almost knocking the boxes again.
Jin put a finger to his mask where his lips would be, and held out his other hand to keep Hoseok back.
After the coast was clear, the two crept outside, making sure not to step too loudly. They saw the light up ahead and decided to move towards the ice cream shop.
"Hide behind the counter", whispered Jin as soon as they arrived. The two ducked behind the glass and waited.
After a while with no sign of the light, Jin grabbed a pin from his bag and handed it to Hoseok, who slowly stood up and slid it into the lock on the cash register.
Jimin's POV
Jimin gulped. He hadn't expected this situation to escalate so quickly. Namjoon was suddenly dragging him towards trouble when he hadn't even gotten his bearings yet.
"A-are you sure this is a good idea?", he asked, almost tripping over the top of the escalator. The first floor looked especially dark and intimidating from above.
"It's okay. I'll guide you through this", answered Namjoon. Jimin felt somewhat relieved hearing the officer's warm voice.
They reached the bottom, Namjoon in front. The elder took out his flashlight and scanned the area.
Nothing.
"Come this way", said Joon, walking to the left. They passed the ice cream shop, Namjoon's flashlight guiding the way.
They walked down, past the storage area. Jimin felt an urge to investigate, but he decided it would be best to just follow the elder.
Soon they reached the other side of the mall. "Do you think they could be hiding in a store?", Jimin asked, half hoping the whole thing had been some kind of false alarm.
Namjoon shook his head. "Everything looks as it should, no sign of forced entry. Besides, every room with a closed door has a security camera".
Jimin felt the weird feeling coming back.
"Even the storage space?", he asked.
Jin and Hoseok's POV
"Let's move on", said Jin, after the two had been waiting a while, bags full with money.
"We haven't seen them come back yet, hyung", replied Hoseok, who'd started to feel uneasy.
"We can sneak out and behind the escalator. Then as soon as we know they're far away again, we head for the exit".
Hoseok decided it was a reasonable plan. As scared as he was, the floor was uncomfortable, and he was ready to get up again.
But as soon as they got up, they suddenly heard whispering from around the corner.
The light came back, and the two moved back down again.
Two figures made their way past the ice cream shop entrance.
Jin saw one of them suddenly turn directly towards the glass he was hiding behind.
He motioned for Hoseok to stay quiet, not moving his eyes away from the figure.
The two shadows suddenly moved closer, and Jin knew making a run for it was their only option.
Grabbing Hoseok, he sprung up and dashed past the two officers.
Hoseok was more than confused as his hyung dragged him towards the exit.
The two heard the officers running behind them, and Jin flung himself at the front doors, opening one and leaping outside.
The two landed in a heap outside the door.
They heard the door open, and jumped up.
The chase continued down the street, all the way until the four of them hit a dead end, and the two burglars ended up against a wire fence.
"Take these", said Namjoon, handing Jimin a pair of cuffs.
It took a few minutes of fumbling behind Hoseok until he heard a frustrated grunt, as Namjoon took the cuffs back and cuffed Hoseok himself.
"Time to go back", said Namjoon, and he and Jimin dragged the other two back towards the mall.
"We could've just stayed in the heap", said Hoseok to his hyung. "I liked it there, and it would've saved time".
Jimin's POV
As the four of them approached the doors, they saw Jungkook running out of the building, his eyes the widest Jimin had ever seen them.
The younger was completely out of breath.
"We got them!", said Namjoon in a satisfied tone. "All thanks to Jimin!". He turned to the boy and placed his hand on his shoulder.
Jimin looked down and felt his face turn red.
"That's g-great", said Jungkook, panting, "B-but...these two weren't the only ones here...tonight".
