Tatum's POV
"So, have you been asked to he semi-formal, back-to-school dance, yet?" Mom asked me, after school.
"No, I haven't. I don't even plan on going." I answered, and continued doing what I was doing.
"Why not?" Mom asked me.
"Don't push it, Mom. I'll go, if someone asks me. And, if they don't, I'll stay home." I told her.
The next day, the day of the semi-formal. I did the normal stuff I would usually do at school. I hadn't really made any of my own friends, just tagged along with my brother and sister.
"Hey, Tatum, is it?" A boy asked me.
"Yes, and who are you?" I asked the boy.
"Reggie, Mantle." He answered. "You don't have a date to the dance, do you?"
"No. I don't." I replied.
"Do you wanna go with me?" Reggie asked. I didn't really want to go with him, but, I wanted to go to the dance.
"Sure, why not." I agreed, nodding. We exchanged numbers, so he could text me when he would pick me up, and then I headed to our lunch table.
"So, do you have a date to the dance?" Kevin asked me, as I sat down beside him.
"Actually, someone just asked me." I answered. "Reggie Mantle." Veronica and Archie were both confused.
"I thought you were lesbian." Archie stated.
"Yeah, same." Veronica agreed.
"I am, but no-one else is going to ask me, so, I might as well." I shrugged. "And, thanks for outing me in front of our friends."

(The dress ^)
I got changed into my dress that I had picked out. And, I wore matching heels. I looked at myself in the mirror, and smiled. I didn't think I'd look this good.
Reggie was waiting for me at the gates of the Pembrooke, with his car.
"Wow, you look great." Reggie commented.
"Thanks, Reggie." I smiled.
From what we'd talked about in the car, he seemed like a nice guy. After we agreed that we were going to be just friends, it was a lot less awkward.
We danced for a while, and I couldn't stop looking over at Betty, I don't know why. Maybe, I was jealous of Archie, but that was stupid.
I wasn't attracted to Betty, was I? I shook my head, and put the thought out of my mind. Reggie invited me to Cheryl's after-party, which I accepted. I had nothing better to do.
We arrived, and I noticed that my brother, sister, Betty, were also here. Alongside, Cheryl's followers.
Cheryl decides to do 7 minutes in heaven in her closet. Which is great. Not awkward at all. Cheryl decides that Archie should be the first, and Reggie is all for it.
Cheryl spins the bottle, and it lands in between Veronica and Betty.
"It's clearly pointing to the new girl." Cheryl says. This isn't good for Betty, and it's extremely awkward for me.
At first, Veronica refuses, but then Cheryl said that she would do it if Veronica didn't. Veronica went inside the closet with Archie.
Betty was nervous the entire time, but then, we definitely heard them making out. Gross. My brother and sister kissing. Then, I saw Betty stand up and walk out of the house upset.
"Betty, wait." I called after her, and followed her out of the house. "What are you doing?"
"What does it look like, huh? I'm getting out of there." She told me. "I thought Veronica was my friend, but she went and stabbed me in the back."
Betty continued to walk down the path and out onto the road.
"Betty, wait!" I called after her. I ran and cut her off from going any further.
"What?" She asked, and sniffed.
"He's not worth it. He's not good enough for you." I told her. "You deserve someone better, someone who wouldn't go behind you back like that, and make out with another person in a closet. Okay, you deserve someone like... like..."
"Like who?" She asked me. At that moment I knew, I liked Betty. I had a crush on her. I wasn't the type of person who would tell them straight away. I was the type of person to bottle up my feelings.
"I don't know who." I sighed.
"Shouldn't you be defending them. You are their sister." Betty stated.
"No. I shouldn't. They're both shit at being good siblings. Why would I defend them?" I questioned.
"They're that bad?" Betty asked me.
"I don't remember how many times they've completely ignored me, or forgotten my birthday, which is on Monday, by the way." I explained. "And, when I went into Pop's that day, and met you, Archie couldn't stop drooling over Veronica, and completely ignored me. He didn't even realise I was there. And, I told Veronica that she couldn't do anything with Archie, and then... that happened."
Betty didn't speak, but her tears had cleared up a bit.
"Do you want me to walk you home?" I asked her.
"Sure, why not?" She smiled.
-----
When I got into the apartment, I noticed that Veronica was lying on our mother's lap, obviously sad.
"Where have you been?" Mom asked me. "I thought you were going to come home with your sister."
"Well, I would've, but I was being a good friend, and went to comfort Betty." I answered, a fake smile on my face.
"How's Betty?" Veronica asked me, sitting up.
"She would be better. But, everyone heard you two in that closet." I told her. "Then I explained how you are a terrible sister, and took her home."
"What the hell! Why would you do that?" Veronica was angry now.
"Because, it's the truth. It wasn't like I told her any lies about you." I shot back. "And, if you really want to be friends with her, you better do something big."
"That's it. Tatum, go to your room!" Mom demanded.
"Fine." I fake smiled at them both, and went into my room.
I changed into my pyjamas, and wiped the makeup off of my face. And, yet again, it was Betty Cooper who was in my dreams.
