||NINETEEN - FAVOUR||

Tatum's POV

I'm sitting on Betty's bed with her, and she's talking to me about Polly. I can tell how sad she is that her sister isn't staying with her.

"Polly won't answer my calls or e-mails. I mean, I get that she doesn't want to talk to my dad, but what did I do wrong?" Betty asks.

"Nothing." I answer. "We'll figure it out. Together." I lay a comforting hand on her knee, and she leans in and kisses me, and I kiss her back. Then, the door bursts open, making us jerk away.

"Up and at 'em. Breakfast is ready." Alice says, parading into Betty's room.

"I'm not hungry." Betty insists.

"Oh, enough is enough, Elizabeth. We have a big week ahead of us." Alice announces. "The Blossoms have always been a thorn in our side, ever since, according to your milquetoast father, Great-Grandpappy Blossom killed Great-Grandpappy Cooper. Well, it's about time someone brings them to heel."

"I am writing a searing, no-holds-barred take-down of their clan." Alice continues.

"And you think that's going to bring Polly home?" Betty questions.

"Maybe, maybe not, but it'll make me feel better." Alice answers. "Word has it that the Blossom board of trustees has descended unto Riverdale like a cabal of vampires. Why? Now, that's a story. I just need to find a way in."

Betty and I walk into the student lounge, where Kevin, Veronica, Archie and Jughead are already sitting.

"Just in time. We're celebrating." Veronica announces.

"Archie was just telling us how he's going to some super-exclusive music program this summer." Kevin tells us. Betty sits in a chair, and I sit on the arm of the chair.

"Maybe. If it happens, though, it'd be huge for me." Archie points out.

"Do you have to audition for it?" I ask him.

"Well, not exactly. Mrs. Blossom came by earlier and said she'd put in a good word for me." Archie answers.

"Amazing." Kevin says and at the same time, Veronica says "Terrifying."

"Uh-huh. What's she getting out of it?" I ask.

"I told her I'd take Cheryl to their family's tree-tapping thing. I already talked to Valerie, and she's cool with it." Archie explains.

"Cool with you being a gigolo now?" I question, making Jughead laugh beside me.

"I'm doing someone a favor for my music, Tatum." Archie defends. "I need to make connections outside of Riverdale."

"That's the way of the world. It's all about connections." Veronica agrees. "But, Tatum's right. These kinds of favors always come with a price tag. Betty, back me up here."

"I think it's a great idea." Betty says.

"Thank you, Betty." Archie thanks.

"Yeah, and while you're there, would you speak to Polly for me?" Betty asks. "I just wanna make sure she's okay." 

"Definitely." Archie nods.

"Thank you." Betty smiles. Archie turns to Veronica.

"And don't worry, Ronnie. I can take care of myself." Archie says.

"Famous last words, Archiekins." Veronica says.

Veronica had invited Ethel to dinner, because of something that happened at school, but I don't know what. Kevin and Betty also came, which was good.
