Tatum's POV

We walked home, and when we got to the house, we saw Jughead on the front steps of the house. He didn't look happy. Maybe it was because of what we saw in the music room.

"Jug? What's up?" Archie asked.

"What's up is that Tatum and I saw you, Archie." Jughead answered. He got up, and walked over to us.

"In the music room, with Miss. Grundy." I added.

"Keep your voice down, Dad's inside." Archie demanded.

"We're trying to help you, dude." Jughead insisted. "I'm trying to be your friend here, even though we're not anymore. How long? You and Grundy?"

"Since this summer." Archie replied. "I like her."

"So, I'm guessing she's the reason you've been acting weird since summer?" Jughead questioned.

"One of them." Archie responded.

"One of them?" I asked him. "There's more."

"We were at Sweetwater River on July 4th." Archie answered. That was when, and where that Blossom boy was murdered. "We heard a gunshot. The gunshot."

"Dude, you have to tell somebody--" Jughead spoke for both of us.

"I can't." Archie cut him off. "Neither can either of you. If people find out about Grundy--"

"A kid is dead, Archie." Jughead snapped. "And you're worried about some-- Some cougar."

"Don't call her that, okay?" Archie shot back. "She's not like that. She cares about me."

"Stab in the dark. I'm guessing she cares more about herself." Jughead spat. "She's the one telling you not to say anything, right?"

Archie stayed silent, and Jughead continued.

"Look, I saw you guys. She's messing with you, man. And, she's messing with your mind."

"What the hell do you know about it, Jughead?! Or about me, even?!" Archie snapped.

"Nothing." Jughead responded. "But I used to know this guy once, Archie Andrews. He wasn't perfect, but, he always tried to do the right thing, at least." Jughead began to walk away, but was stopped by Archie.

"Jug." Archie stated. "If you tell anyone about this..."

"What?" Jughead asked. "What are you gonna do?" They stood, looking at each other in silence. Until, the front door of the house opened, revealing Dad.

"Hey, Jug. You coming in? We got takeout from Pop's." Dad offered.

"He was just leaving." Archie answered for him.

I was sitting with Kevin and Betty, at school, and after spending the night at my dad's. I still wasn't talking to Veronica, because, she hadn't really talked to me.

We were going over homework answers, when Reggie addressed the football team, but loud enough so we could all hear it.

"And, Sheriff Keller's grilling me. Mantle the Magnificent. Because I'd want Blossom dead. When he was the only good quarterback we had." Reggie stated. "And, speaking of offensive tight ends, I should've sent the cops to you, Moose. Because here's another unsolved mystery. What exactly were you and Kevin doing at the river, huh? Or does being the Sheriff's son give you a free pass, Keller?"

"Reggie's just being a blowhard, Kev." Betty told him.

"Or just a dick?" I refrazed.

"I don't care what he says." Kevin insisted.

"I mean, let's think about it. If a kid at Riverdale killed Jason, it's not going to be a jock, right?" Reggie continued, and threw a football to someone sitting at the other end of the room. "No, let's be honest. Isn't it always some spooky, scrawny, pathetic Internet troll too busy writing his manifestos to get laid? Some smug, moody, serial-killer-fanboy freak. Like Jughead."

Everyone turned to where Jughead was standing.

"What was it like, Suicide Squad? When you shot Jason? You didn't do stuff to the body, did you? Like, after?" Reggie asked him. I rolled my eyes at him.

"It's called necrophilia, Reggie." Jughead pointed out. "Can you spell it?" I laughed, and we saw Reggie jump over the couch over to where Jughead was.

Then, Archie pushed Reggie away before he could do anything.

"What do you care, Andrews?" Reggie asked.

"Nothing. Just leave him alone." Archie demanded.

"Holy crap. Did you and Donnie Darko kill him together?" Reggie questioned. "Was it some sort of pervy blood brother thing?" Archie shoved Reggie. And that started an all out brawl between the two guys.

We all stood up. Reggie soon had Archie on the ground. I ran over, and tried to help Jughead pull Reggie off of him. But, Archie got out of there with a black eye.

That night, was the pep rally. I walked with Kevin over to the stands, and we took our seats, ready for what was coming.

After an announcement of such from Mayor McCoy, a well-known teen band in this town, Josie and The Pussycats, began to sing, with the River Vixens dancing alongside.

As the Vixens were dancing, my eyes were on one person. Betty Cooper. She did the same dance as the rest of them, but I just felt like she stood out.

Then, after the performance, the Bulldogs poured onto the field for the game, led by my brother, Archie. I noticed Cheryl run off of the stage, and into the school, and Veronica followed her, then Betty did.

After the game, and everything was over, I said goodbye to Kevin, and went over to Veronica and Betty.

"Hey, we're going to Pop's, do you want to come?" Betty asked.

"Sure, why not." I smiled. I sent a look to Veronica. Our special look. The one that said 'all is forgiven.' We made it up when we were small, and were always getting into fights with each other.

Veronica smiled, then hugged me, and we walked alongside Betty to Pop's.

We ordered our milkshakes, Betty had a vanilla one, Veronica had a double chocolate one, and I had my all-time favorite. Cookies and Cream.

"Betty, can we make a vow?" Veronica asked.

"Sure." Betty replied.

"That no matter what, no boy will ever come between us again." Veronica continued.

"Especially, my fifteen-year-old brother." I added. They agreed, and clinked their glasses together.

Then, Archie and Jughead came into the diner, and Betty invited them to join. They agreed, and then came into the booth with us.

Jughead introduced himself to Veronica, and we got a conversation going between us. It was a nice night, but we weren't ready for what was about to come the next morning.

The next day, I was sitting in Biology, paired with Reggie, as I had no one else to go with. It was quite boring, until Principal Weatherbee came into the classroom, accompanied by Sheriff Keller.

"You're here for me, aren't you?" Cheryl asked, standing up from her seat next to Veronica. "Because of the autopsy?"

"We don't need to do this in front of your classmates, Cheryl." Weatherbee told her.

"It's all right, Principal Weatherbee." Cheryl replied. She put her hands in front so they could cuff her. "They'll find out soon enough."

"Now, that won't be necessary." Sheriff Keller said.

"Wait, Cheryl. Find out what?" Veronica asked the girl.

"That I'm guilty." Cheryl answered. Everyone looked at each other with wide eyes, and Cheryl was taken out of the classroom.

We didn't know it yet, but, Jason's autopsy had revealed that he didn't die on July 4th as we believed. But, over a week later.
