||TWENTY-FOUR - INNOCENT||

Tatum's POV

"You did what?!" Dad asks. Archie, Veronica and Betty had just come back to the house, and were telling all our parents about Archie and Veronica's break in.

"We had to make sure FP wasn't involved in Jason's murder." Archie defends.

"And, now we know the truth." Alice says. "He was."

"What? Mom, no. We just told you--" Betty starts.

"The gun was planted." Archie finishes for her.

"By whoever killed Jason." Veronica adds.

"Couldn't you have just missed it?" Mom asks.

"Yeah, excuse me if I trust the detection skills of an officer of the law over four amateur sleuths." Alice agrees.

"Mom, you're the one who asked Veronica to break in." Betty points out.

"Excuse me?" "What?"  "Alice?" My mom, my dad and Mary all say at the same time.

"Actually, I approached Mrs. Cooper." Veronica says. "I had to know if FP was involved. And if he was connected to my dad."

"A gun was found." Mom says. "FP is the killer, case closed, we're leaving." Mom is now standing next to Veronica.

"There was no gun." Archie argues.

"Son. This isn't petty theft or a bar fight we're talking about, Archie. This is murder." Dad says.

"Okay, fine. Then, we'll go to the sheriff without you." Archie says.

"Archie, you entered FP's residence illegally. So, whatever you did, or did not find there would be inadmissible in a court of law." Mary points out.

"I don't care what happens to me." Archie says.

"I do care. FP may have ruined Jughead's life. I'm not gonna let him ruin yours." Dad says. 

"Veronica, we're leaving." Mom says. "Tatum, are you coming with us?"

I shook my head. "I'm gonna stay with Dad."

"Okay." Mom nods. She drags Veronica out of the house, and then Alice takes Betty out as well.

"Both of you, go to your rooms." Dad says. I sigh, and then Archie and I reluctantly go to our rooms.

I changed out of my dress that I was still in, and soon Archie burst into my room.

"Don't you knock?" I question, sighing.

"Betty and I are going to look for Jughead, you coming?" Archie asks.

"Yeah, I'll be downstairs in a minute." I reply. I quickly dress in something I can go outside in, then Archie and I meet Betty.

Our first stop was the bus station. We get to the door, and it's locked. Archie knocks on the window, and tries to get in but it's no use.

"From what he said in the hall, it seems like he wants to get to his mom in Ohio." Archie says. "Anything?"

"No." Betty answers, and puts her phone away.

"Maybe his phone died." Archie floats the idea.

"Or maybe, the only friends he has just completely betrayed him." Betty says. Archie's phone rings, and he quickly pulls it out to answer it.

"Is that him?" Betty asks.

"No, it's Veronica." Archie answers. "Hey you, okay?... I'm with Betty and Tatum, we're looking for Jughead... We're at the bus station, but it's shut down for the night."

Our next stop is Pop's, where we meet up with Veronica, and see Jughead sitting in a booth.

"Told you." Veronica says.

"Jug." Archie starts.

"Jug, we're so sorry." Betty begins. "About everything."

"Juggy, we screwed up." Archie says. "We all did. And breaking into your dad's trailer was wrong, but at least some good came out of it."

"Pretty sure my dad just got arrested for murder." Jughead murmurs.

"That gun." Veronica replies. "It wasn't there when we searched the trailer. Someone put it there after we left."

Jughead looks at Veronica. "What are you talking about?" He asks.

Next, we head down to the sheriff's station, to tell then about the gun.

"Excuse me, sir. We need to see Sheriff Keller." Archie asks, politely.

"There's been a huge mistake." Betty adds. Then, we see Sheriff Keller come from around the corner.

"Sheriff, we need to talk to you about FP Jones." Veronica says

"What about him?" Sheriff Keller asks.

"He's innocent." Archie says.

"He's being framed." Veronica adds.

"Well, then why did he just confess?" Sheriff Keller questions.

We saw as two police officers, dragged FP down the hall, his arms handcuffed together. Sheriff Keller followed them, and we stood in silence. Watching Jughead's face.

The next day, we went to school as normal, sat in our usual seats in the cafeteria, it was normal. Apart from the fact that everyone was going up to Cheryl and comforting her. And, the minus of Jughead.

"The police report said FP worked alone." Betty says, reading the paper.

"No mention of your dad, Ronnie. That's good news, right?" Archie asks.

"I can't stop thinking that, maybe my dad hired another Serpent to plant that gun." Veronica says.

"It's surreal, isn't it." Kevin says, joining us at the table. "How's Jughead doing?"

"Not good." Betty answers.

"He's not coming in today. He's at the station." Archie explains.

"Being grilled by your dad." Veronica adds.

"Who's just doing his job." Kevin argues. "I mean, of course he's gonna ask Jughead questions."

"Okay, well, he's wasting his time, Kev, because FP didn't kill Jason." Betty states.

"Betty, he confessed." Kevin points out.

"Or he was coerced." Betty floats the idea. "Or he's protecting someone. Maybe a Serpent. My mom saw him and Joaquin together."

"Don't. Do not drag my boyfriend into this." Kevin says.

"What do you..?" Betty starts.

"Oh, no." Archie says. We all look, and see Jughead walk into the cafeteria. Everyone is staring at pointing at him.

"What happened to him not coming in today?" Veronica asks. 

Jughead walks past everyone, and over to the table where Cheryl's sitting. He apologises to Cheryl, then she slaps him. She starts punching his chest until we get there, and Archie pulls her away.

"That's enough!" Weatherbee shouts. "Mr. Jones, you need to come with me. Right now."

"He was apologising. He didn't do anything wrong." Archie tried to argue. Weatherbee ignored him, and then left with Jughead trailing behind him.

That night, I get a call from Betty, telling me that she's actually a Blossom. And, that Polly's a Blossom, and was dating her third-cousin, and is pregnant with her cousin's babies.

Wow. A lot of crazy things happen in Riverdale.

The part that Betty seemed genuinely happy about was the fact that Polly was back, and living with them.
