POV~Henry
I quickly run to the Subway, dodging everything in my path. I'm probably going to be late again, but this time it's for a good cause. Megan wasn't using her headphones, and I'm thinking it has something to do with her dad. So, I went to the store and bought her a pair of brand new headphones. They're light teal like her old ones I saw her wear in the library, but wireless. I think she's going to love them.
Before I enter the subway, I throw the headphones in a gift bag. When I dance in, Megan looks up at me and smiles.
"Late again, Henry?"
I grin. "You know it."
She shakes her head, and I move towards her a bit, with the bag behind my back. I take a deep breath. Here goes nothing.
"So, Megan. I um, I well...I brought you something."
She looks up at me in surprise. "Me?" She asks innocently.
I grin and bring the gift bag from behind my back. She gasps and covers her mouth with her hand.
I laugh. "You don't even know what it is yet!"
She smiles softly. "Just the fact that you bought me something...no one has ever..."
I smile and place the item in her hands. "Open it."
She looks up at me with tears in her eyes. "I can't accept this. You're...you're too sweet."
I laugh softly and press the gift against her as she tries to give it back.
"Megan, sweet, honey boo, Megalicious, Meggy, Meg, darling of sugar, that's not how gifts work. Now open it."
She sighs and carefully opens the package with her eyes closed. When she opens them, she gasps and almost drops the headphones.
"Henry, how did you know I..."
I smile. "I remember everything."
A tear falls down her cheek and she pulls me into a hug. I smile against her hair.
"Megan, I didn't know you liked hugs. You never hug anyone," I say, surprised.
She sighs softly. "Except you."
My breath get's caught in my throat. I'm about to say something SUPER romantic (you don't even know) but she pulls back and goes back behind the counter. I follow her, so the day of Subway can begin.
~Lunch Break~
Megan and I sit down to eat our lunches, but instead of sitting in silence our conversation is full. Mostly it's me talking, but that's OK. I think she likes it that way.
"Do you have any siblings?" Megan asks.
I grin. "Yep, an older sister. Her names Anna, and she's the best. But, she only visits every once in a while because she's in college."
She nods and takes another bite of her sandwich. I pick up my phone and scroll through my spotify playlist, trying to find a song Megan will enjoy. Almost like she can read my mind, she picks up her own phone and music begins to blare out of it.
My face goes pale, and I start jumping up and down with excitement. "This is my FAVORITE SONG!"
Knock Three Times is playing from her phone, and she giggles and hops up next to me. She sways her hips, bringing her hands up and around her neck and chest.
Is she seriously trying to kill me right now?!
I guess I'm staring at her, because she looks me in the eye, laughs, and shoves me shoulder a little. I shake my head smiling, and continue to dance next to her.
Once the song ends, she moves over to her phone and turns the music off.
"Aww," I pout. "I like dancing."
She smiles. "Lunch break is over doofus."
I put on a pouty face and stalk over to the counter. "Man, I wish lunch break is all day. Partly because HELLO, food." I turn to her. "But partly because I get to hang out with you."
She blushes and moves over next to me behind the counter.
I suddenly jump up and turn to her. "HEY! There's a carnival coming to town tomorrow, do you want to come with me?"
She grins. "Of course!"
I smile back and wink at her. "Hey, I'm pretty good at games, just so you know..."
She rolls her eyes and moves a hand on her hip. "Right, I'm sure."
I grin. "Hey! Just you see when I win you the biggest thing there."
She blushes, but tries to cover it up with a smile. Both actions are cute. GAH, what is going on inside my brain?!
