"Episode 2 - Bumper Knot"
(Jeff is sitting in the passenger's seat of his mother's vehicle)
JEFF: Mom, say something.
CAROLINE: What do you want me to say, Jeff?! I just picked you up from the police station for possession of alcohol and underage drinking. What were you thinking?
(Jeff's phone vibrates)
JEFF: I wasn't. Look, I'm sorry!
(he looks at his phone and sees an incoming call from Stephanie. He declines the call)
CAROLINE: (very angrily) Not good enough!
(Caroline looks at Jeff and shakes her head)
CAROLINE: Not this time.
JEFF: I screwed up.
CAROLINE: That's an understatement! You need to smarten up and pull your head out of your a**! We're lucky they let you off with just a warning.
(Jeff's phone vibrates again. Caroline notices the incoming call)
CAROLINE: (angry) Don't f***ing answer that!
(Jeff looks at his phone and sees Jill's name)
JEFF: Chill-out, Mom... it's Jill.
CAROLINE: I don't care who that is! Your father is so pissed at you.
JEFF: You told Dad?
CAROLINE: Who do you think called me to pick you up.
(Caroline looks sternly at Jeff. He turns his head away and looks out the passenger window)
JEFF: (low voice) But, everyone was drinking tonight...
CAROLINE: Oh, exactly what I needed to hear. You think that's a relief? (looks at Jeff) What if you had hurt yourself? (louder) What if you'd hurt someone else?
JEFF: (irritated) Stop! Okay? I get it. (calmly) I get it.
(Jeff receives a text message from Jill: WHERE ARE YOU!!? CALL ME! URGENT!)
[End Scene]
(Max wakes up to his phone vibrating on his nightstand)
MAX: (weakly) Hello? (listening) Wait, slow down. Where are you? (pauses) Okay, I'll be right there.
(Max places his phone on the nightstand and jumps out of bed)

JILL: He's on his way.
(Valerie looks shaken and upset)
VALERIE: (shakily) She shrugged me off. I wasn't expecting her to react like that.
JILL: It wasn't your fault, Val. She wasn't sober.
VALERIE: I noticed.
JILL: And it wasn't just alcohol.
(Valerie gives Jill a look of concern)
(a doctor walks out of Whitney's room)
