Chapter 14
The moment the meeting had finished, God indicated that I needed to follow him.
I looked back as I walked over to his holiness. Raphael's eyes met with mine, and he nodded his head, showing that I could go. However, he looked as though he wished he was able to come with. Unfortunately his brothers were starting to gang up against him, and as their argument got more and more heated, Raphael realised that he wasn't going to be leave and go with me quite yet.
God lead me over to one of the far walls, and through a small door. Inside was yet another small room, one that I have never been in before. I wondered how many rooms this one building within heaven had, but let the thought slide away as I looked over at God.
He stood at the othersider of the room, watching me closely.
"My Dear. Are you quite sure of your decisions?" Always straight to the point.
"Yes sir."
"You realise the tremendous risk we are putting you in, do you not?"
"Yes sir."
"Yet you're willing to do it anyways?"
"Of course Sir."
God sighed and stepped a little closer.
"May I ask... Why, Darci?"
He might be god, he might be able to look into the souls of all humans on earth, and give guidance to those who need him most, but I stood there are realised that I was a Mystery to him. He could not understand why I was so willing to go through with this. But I knew why.
Despite knowing the reasons, and there were a few, something in me stopped me from sharing with God. I turned away, breaking our eye contact. It was easier to keep my thoughts to myself if I couldn't see those piercing eyes as he looked so closely at me.
The door swung open. Raphael didn't wait to be invited in. He strolled straight through, giving them impression that he had every right to be there. The other four Archangels shuffled in after him, and closed the door behind themselves.
The room was not that big, and now with 7 of us inside, it was quite tight. All the archangels had to pull their wings back, to give everyone more room. Raphael went straight to my side. He was careful not to touch me, however I could feel the warmth of his body next to mine. I focused on resisting the urge to reach out and wrap my arms around him, and focused my attention entirely on God.
"Very well. I think this is something we need to action immediately. Raphael, if you are sure you wish to accompany Darci- "
"-Absolutely." Raphael's deep voice immediately interrupted him. God nodded, and continued.
"Then you should take Darci to Earth. Find a place to stay, and try to settle in. She must appear to be normal. We will keep in close contact with you directly, and will work out a way to bring Darci to the Herman's Shadow."
Gabriel broke out a little sob at that, and hurried over to me.
"Awww hun. You're so brave doing this for us! I am so proud! Please, take care, okay?" She looked as though she desperately wanted to hug me, but knew she couldn't. I smiled warmly up at her, realising that I was going to miss her when I was gone. I looked around at the other archangels, surprised at how fond I was become to each of them.
"Don't miss me too much." She chuckled at them all. Michael pretended to cry too, and Gabriel turned around and hit him. Surprisingly hard.
Raphael linked his fingers through mine, and started leading me towards the door. My heart was pounding now, at what was about to come. But I felt strong. Like, I knew I was doing the right thing.
As we weaved our way through the other Archangels, I turned back to wave goodbye to God. But she wasn't watching me. He was so focused on my hand, which was woven throughout Raphael's own. I noticed the look that was on his face. It took me a second to recognise what it was.
As I stepped through the doorway, I realised that God had looked slightly bewildered at the two of us. My heart was pounding furiously, but at that, I smiled.
