My Ride or Die

Chapter 1

Jenny

I woke up with a dry cough. I guess it was due to the window being open all night. But it was mid September. It's still warm enough to leave the window open without the fear of getting sick. I love the winter, but summer was always battling to be my favorite. Being a Cancer was especially significant in the warm days of July.

I rose from my bed at 5:44 AM just enough time to shut my alarm a minute before its ring and I went to shower quickly.

After the usual morning toiletries, I got dressed, put my hair in a ponytail and walked to my bus stop.

The usual 6:08 AM vehicle took me to me right on time at school. 6:53. A little brighter out. My friends Daphne and Bernadette were waiting for me at the front entrance as usual. And with a fee goofs and laughs, we went downstairs for breakfast. While poking at my yogurt, I was approached by my best friend, Serena. "Hey Jenny!", she said cheerfully as she hugged me from behind. "Hello," I said as I smiled and looked up at her.

Then she was approached by a hug from the back by her boyfriend, Dustin. It was followed by a kiss on the cheek. She rubbed his nose and they both sat down next to me. "Well, good morning to you two lovebirds," Bernadette said. Serena giggled and kissed Dustin on the cheek. I looked on with a smile on my face wanting exactly what every teenage hopeless romantic wants.
